Well there ya go. He'll steal votes from both parties though, so it'll be a wash. Tree: I'm tellin' ya.... DeSantis is far from done. I bet he's the nominee, but we shall see.
As I said the other day, I hear ya, but watch the donors. DeSantis can't run on fresh air and bloviating at a certain point. My overall impression is that he is not gaining with donors and is still losing them, and the undecided donors are watching Glenn Youngkin and Nikki and/or considering not donating to anyone and just let things sort themselves out without backing anyone this early. If DeSantis is able to get backing from donors while his numbers are going down, well good, because that is what will be required. If not, well then, as we discussed before, he becomes like Kamala who lots and lots and lot of people thought was made to be the nominee but she just ran out of people with money who believed in her and her campaign tanked. Message to Ron: Don't do that.
Which came first though, the chicken or the egg? Ie, did the funding dry up, or did Kamala being Kamala dry it up? There's a big difference there. I've spoken to several dyed in the wool Trumpy type pubs this week who are saying DeSantis is the only hope. I guess they're assuming Trump's problems will beat him in the end. Right or wrong, these cats are looking at Ron as the next best choice.
Well, she dried it up by not performing well in the polls and not doing well in early states. As I said, note to Ron: Don't do that. He is trying to raise cash in an environment where he is falling in national polls and in state polls. That's pre-Kamala. If he can turn that around, then that will be a feather in his cap. I am not out to push his face in the mud. But he has to start pulling rabbits out of the hat, not me. Nov 7 is the day when a lot of this will begin to sort itself out. Virginia has an odd-year election on that day and that is only five weeks away or so. Younkin brought in a lot of republicans when he was elected and now he wants to flip the other house, and from there argue that he was able to win republican votes in a state that Biden won- and upon that success (if it happens) make his decision about running. He already has donors. BIGTIME. who are waiting for him. That would be a radical Rumsfeldian event if he declared. But if he doesn't then the field is probably set. And DeSantis is now fighting Nikki for second place or will soon. Which is a step down from fighting Trump for first. Some of the donors might get snaky too and donate to RFK if they think he will take more dem than republican votes (remains to be seen). Some of them are okay with Trump but don't think he can win so they lean toward DeSantis. But if DeSantis continues to go flaccid, they may accept the fact that Trump is going to get it (and if Youngkin does not run) and then concentrate on damaging Joe by contributing to RFK or No Labels Manchin or the like.
I have not read in detail but I presume that in addition to checking the black box, she also checks the lezbo box. This is after all about Newsom and what helps him. She was a senior campaign adviser for Kamala's losing presidential campaign. Yeh. feel the burn there. Barbara Lee and Adam Sh@t are going to be pissed too because Newsom did not require her to commit to being a temporary placeholder. Gavin Newsom has picked Laphonza Butler to fill Dianne Feinstein's Senate seat https://www.cbsnews.com/news/gavin-newsom-laphonza-butler-senate-seat-dianne-feinstein/
I got to say, a Haley-Youngkin ticket would be hard to beat. It would definitely put Virginia in play.
That’s the thing, no commitment to not run again is huge. There are a lot of upset politicians in Cali this morning.
