This is just one poll and not a major one, blah, blah, blah. Nevertheless, we know that Vivek's numbers are on the upcurve and Ron's, not so much. So the trend is Viv's friend. Tim Scott will eat some of Ron's votes too. Probably some of Trump's as well but Trump has them to spare. As discussed before, the appointment of a special counsel for Biden would be absolutely insane and stupid on steroids- and the republicans calling for it need to knock it off. Comer and Grassley are producing. If you get special counsel then you get an appointment of Merrick Garland's choosing and then the DOJ and the other agencies immediately start arguing that they cannot release anything because there is an ongoing investigation. Then some half arse report down the road after the election. We have seen this movie. The Pubs need to go in the other direction and start impeachment. Not because you can get a vote to impeach Biden but because the Committee gets the expanded authority that comes from an impeachment investigation. Funding too. And the DOJ cannot argue before a court that there "is not legislative purpose to the records requests" because it is being requested -in addition- as part of an impeachment inquiry. DO NOT EVER GIVE THIS OVER TO A SPECIAL COUNSEL. if you can avoid it. Merrick Garland may jump the gun and do it anyway just to put it all over in his shop rather than before the Committee. It's the old study it to death until the election passes routine. And Congress cannot see any evidence because DOJ has an open investigation routine. Nope. Color me done with that scam. And who would his VP candidate be Lisa? Alaska Sen. Murkowski says she would prefer Manchin for president over Trump or Biden “I tell you, if it’s a matchup between Biden and Trump, I know exactly where I’d go. I would go with Joe Manchin. I am one who doesn’t like to use my vote for the lesser of evils, I want to be proactive in who I think could do the job,” Murkowski said during a PBS interview set to air in full Friday. “I think Manchin could do the job.” https://www.adn.com/politics/2023/0...uld-go-with-joe-manchin-over-trump-or-biden/#
Interesting that Chris Sununu has announced that he is not running for re-election. So obviously he is planning on a cabinet position if the pubs win. I am sure he is smart enough to know that the days of having white males for VP are pretty much over.
Would Sununu even take a cabinet position in a second Trump term? I kind of doubt it. If Trump manages to get a second term then he would be scraping the bottom of the barrel for staffing. I can’t really see anyone with a decent head on their shoulders lining up with Trump considering almost everyone who worked with him in his first administration was either f*cked over or left on bad terms.
Yeah, well, yes, there is all of that. There are positions (AG, Chief of Staff, Secretary of State, Homeland Security, Secretary of Defense) that all have low flash points and targets on their back. However, there are some that do not. I am sure that if Chris Sununu wants to "do a Marty Walsh" and become Labor Secretary or something like that, it would be workable. He knows he would be building cred for a future exit into the private sector when he no longer enjoyed enjoyed DC. And Trump would not be on his arse for much. Something like that. Also, he may be positioning himself for a Joe Manchin administration.
It's time to face the reality that nearly everyone who worked for the first Trump administration were not able to obtain jobs in the private sector after leaving. Working for Trump makes you an untouchable by any respectable firm. Very few people except for extremists will consider working for a second Trump administration. Doug Burgham has qualified for the debate. Ultra-ultra longshot but probably ahead of Pence, Christie, Nikki Haley, Will Hurd, Larry Elder, Asa Hutchinson, Francis Suarez, and a couple others. People do not need to see them again. I don't mind seeing Burgham once or twice to see if he qualifies as a future Energy or Agriculture Secretary or the like.
He ran a scam of $1 will buy you a $20 gift card to make the donation qualification. Anyway, I’m pretty sure Christie has actually qualified for the debates.
