RBOB futures made it down to $1.87 recently so the gas price he mentioned is correct. I suspect he wasn’t referencing the pump price which varies every where due to taxes.

RBOB futures are not priced differently based on what state you are in - he clearly was talking about gasoline prices consumers pay at the pump.
