Edward O. Thorp on charting

  1. Predictive may not be the right word and generally suggests short term forecasting like in day trading.

    But

Yes, when combined the right way, and given time, profitable stocks can be targeted.

Yeah, I get a little ill whenever Peter Brandt is mentioned as example of market success......

He has never had anything audited as far as anyone can see.... it seems actual audited results from him continue to elude discovery...

for someone with such a performance it's a surprise he is such a financial unknown outside the retail seminar circuit.....

Have heard some negative things about him here......

Of course, we all need to find what works for each of us.

Victor Neiderhoffer who went belly up not once, but twice - is at the top of my list who not to emulate!

Why would fundamentals and value give predictive value? What is it about them? Why would you look at them to determine if you will go long or short?

  7. False. Vic was the top ranked hedge fund manager for an extended period of time. His money making system is solid, its the greed/over competitive demon that appears to be his nemesis.

    That is not reality

The New Yorker labeled him, correctly, the Blow-Up Artist.

Geez you would think a market "expert" such as yourself would know this. Or at least include it in your post(s) when touting the great Victor N.

  9. You forget the years of outsized returns-- snd the dozen plus $100 million plus AUM managers who came from his mentorship. this is verified-- unlike the price action wizard.

I guess if I got my info from the NewYorker, I would think same as you. Lol!

Or holding on thru the drawdowns. Sooner or later that will take a big chunk out the part of the body one sits on. LOL THE ONLY THING THAT IS TRUE IS PA. All the rest is mumbo jumbo..speculation...dreams...wishes..exercises in vanity..ego building...and of course some is just plain stupidity. Good fundamentals don't necessarily mean PA will head north. Example, experts been screaming the market is overvalued. Markets will crash if mr T wins the election...A huge correction is coming! A crash is coming! Something is out of kilter fundamental wise. The teapot is gonna crack....ad nauseum. Well, it probally will ...ONE day. But, in spite of all the dire predictions the market marches up and up and up. Did I forget to say UP? So, I could care less "why" it is going up. I don't need to know the reason. All i need to do is "see" is that it is going up and up and up. Did I forget to say UP? PA tells me what it is doing. I can see that. And if the crash comes tomm i will see that too. It is there. Visible for all to see. Victor must have closed his eyes?? Did he? Did i ask if he closed his eyes?
