[/ QUOTE] Good afternoon! I am interested in options trading. In particular, the sale of putts on SPX. I liked your approach to the case. Could you help me-describe your strategy for selling Put on SPX? Thanks

    That's certainly possible.
BUT as a practical matter it should be disclosed+ not really logical to invest much time or bucks in a deal like that .
And even worse \much worse\ some one to claim to trade/invest + not do it.
Trading/ investing years could be very helpful regardless of current status.
BUT partly proving your point, even a new trader could be right, sometimes .:cool:

I have never been able to lose or master my emotions. Nor have I ever been able to dominate my mind. Both are incessant in constantly pushing their activity to the forefront of my consciousness. The best I can do is acknowledge that they are there and realize they are part and parcel of my humanity, and then after acknowledging them, turn my focus and attention back to the task at hand, i.e. reading the PA patterns in the market and executing them.

Thoughts and emotions are like clouds in a clear blue sky. They come and go at will. They will float away and soon disappear, only be replaced by new ones. A human cannot force themselves to not think or feel. Not even for a 60 second span. I see them as clouds that appear, then disappear.

Every trade I ever do, win or lose, is always wrapped in the context of emotions and thoughts swirling around, for better or for worse. Like a cheese filled jalapeño popper wrapped in bacon. They are ALWAYS there except in rare brief moments when the market moves so fast they cannot appear on the horizon of the clear blue sky before the event is over.

    Good points.
Its like one female said on radio ''feelings lie to you''
I NEVER bought into the idea that '' trading was supposed to be boring''; i enjoy my research=part of trading+ investing.
Buying lotto tickets must be exciting, so many do\ but i dont do that stupid tax, on people that cant do math, as Dave Ramsey says. So i cant really say if lotto is exciting??
BUT a well tested battle plan overrules emotions.
Handle123 quote note '' memorize patterns'' can + does overrule emotions.

    1. Paper trading is emotionless.

    2. Trading 1 share (or a very small number of shares) of some low priced stock can be emotionless. You might even forget you have the trade on.

    2. Put on a reasonably sized day trade, set your stop and target. Then fall asleep. You might get angry when you wake up, but while the trade was on you might not have shown any emotions, unless you dreamt about it. An alternative to falling asleep just get really distracted by something else. And you might even forget you have the trade on.

    3. Hit your trading goal in life.
Lets say you want to make $10 million from trading. When you hit that plus have a cushion on top like say you have made $12 million from trading. Why would losing 1% on a trade after that cause you any major emotions. It should be like trading 1 share of stock to you. Any trade or losing streak wont effect your future dreams or standard of living.

If 1% of your account is meaningless might that not lead to giving a losing trade a little more room to see if it turns around? Eventually emotion comes back into play.

Maybe it depends on the person. If they have hit trading goal in life + some. They could still fragment through boredom or some life event. eg Want some excitement from trading because they have boring life. Although i would hope once you hit your trading goal you go on to enjoy your life rather than tinkering with your trades.

I have set and attained what I considered a reasonable goal several times. I just move the goal posts. I am enjoying my life and still tinkering with my strategy.
