Ed Schultz: GOP Not Raising the Minimum Wage Is 'Every Bit as Racist' as Donald Sterl

  1. The leftists now have their "wedge issue" as they're calling it, and having the issue is and always is much more important than actually solving the problem. They make a ridiculous demand knowing it's impossible to do. What they're arguing is the equivalent of telling a manufacturing company to give all their 20 dollar an hour employees a raise to 28 bucks an hour. Then they want everyone to believe that this will have no impact on the bottom line of that company. It's too stupid to comprehend, but that is the leftist way of pushing their agenda.
Make arguments and set expectations which are impossible to pull off, have all sane people decline their idiotic demands, but then they have the issue to campaign on. And that my friends is how it's done.

Does the history of minimum wage increases coincide with a history of declining profits? Declining numbers of fast food joints?

  3. I think I've argued strongly enough over the years that most would accept that my position is one that supports the average working person. If raising the minimum wage 3 bucks an hour would actually help the people I would support it. It won't, so I don't.
The real problem is that there are no decent jobs. McD jobs have become what passes for real job opportunity. That won't work, regardless of the pay.
If Obama had any brains, or if he actually wanted to do something of substance he could do a few things. One, he should call corporate Americas bluff. You want you tax break? Fine, but it comes conditionally. They create jobs, REAL jobs, and they get their break. And no bullshit about not being able to find qualified people. They must have apprentice and training programs available. PAID apprenticeship and training. Two, massive infrastructure rebuilding. This alone would create millions of jobs. Where does the money come from? No more ME war exercise in futility. Billion dollars a day builds a lot of f'n bridges. Three, and this ties in with number two. Go all in on electric cars, solar energy. Yep, you righties read it right. Of course this means having the balls to NUKE the entire ME region when we quit buying their fucking oil and they STILL raise hell, which is exactly what they'll keep doing because this has never been about oil. It's about their crazy assed ideology to die and take everyone with them. Well, I say let's accommodate them. One ,just ONE terrorist attack and the entire region goes up in a cloud.
None of the three things listed above will happen because they don't want to solve the problem. They want an issue to campaign on, and their masters in corporate America want something to bitch about(taxes) while they stuff their pockets and move their operations offshore.

  4. Bravo there is the CaptainObvious we used to know. Except for the nuke part I'm in agreement.

  5. Well, the nuking might be a wee bit over the top:eek:, but seriously, there has to be a plan as to what will happen if we would completely pull out of the ME oil business, and that has to happen for energy companies to aggressively pursue anything but oil energy. There just isn't going to be all of the sudden peace in the world, but that's off topic for this thread.
Obama should put corporate America to the test. Guarantee some real job growth and you get some real tax breaks. And our infrastructure is a joke, but the money does have to come from somewhere, and that somewhere is to quit wasting it all trying to tame the ME savages.
