    Wasn't Clinton a Rhode's Scholar or something? And people were comparing The One to Spock?

    What we really need is a process and a position that would interest someone capable. Nobody who already has a decent gig is gonna put up with all the #@&% required to get elected, then put up with all the serious $#@*& once they are in office.

    That's why we end up with chumps like Palin, Carter, Ford, both the Bushes, and The One. And that's why we end up with power mad nutjobs like Cheney and the Hildabeast, because you have to have truly messed up priorities and values to try to get the job.

    Not that we deserve any better. We're just gonna go ahead and vote for free ice cream every time and damn the consequences.

  2. Rhodes' legacy specified four standards by which applicants were to be judged:

    literary and scholastic attainments;
    energy to use one's talents to the full, as exemplified by fondness for and success in sports;
    truth, courage, devotion to duty, sympathy for and protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship;
    moral force of character and instincts to lead, and to take an interest in one's fellow beings.

    Rhodes Scholar vs Nobel prize winner

    According to Nobel's will, the Peace Prize should be awarded to the person who:

    “ ...shall have done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses.[1]

    And right on time, this article:

    WTF is going to drop #$&^ing 20 or 40 million dollars of their own money to get to be Governor of the most mucked up state in the Union? You don't see executives dropping that sort of coin to become CEOs. Only in politics does one find this extreme craziness. These candidates are either corrupt to the core and plan to make that money back plus a healthy return on risk, or they are just mad for power.

    integrity and moral substance and a record of correcting corruption ...
    rather than a genius snakey corrupt bastard Pres.
