Communism was'nt broken, it has'nt died. it just morphed into the the Straussian neoconservative movement. The basic underlying atheistic philosophy is the same. The basic Straussian tenet ( read up on Leo Strauss) is the average Joe is too dumb to be allowed to think and act for himself. Hence the necessity for a strong state ( the "wise" men and elite who maintain power) to control his actions to keep him from harming himself. In the process of control, it is the obligation and inherent right of the "wise"/ state to lie and propagate misinformation to subjugate the masses to do the states bidding. Once you study Straussian philosophy (or garbage, depends on how you look at it), the necessity for the current state of deceit and the morphing lies for the reason for war become all too apparent. It's a textbook execution of ideas from the Straussian fieldbook. Another interesting field of research is who funded the communist movement and who are at the core of the initial neocon movement.
By "breaking the back of communism", I meant from an economic standpoint. Interesting point...i think in the states we would call it liberalism. You aren't smart enough to make your own decisions so we will make them for you.
lib·er·al·ism P Pronunciation Key (lbr--lzm, lbr-) n. The state or quality of being liberal. A political theory founded on the natural goodness of humans and the autonomy of the individual and favoring civil and political liberties, government by law with the consent of the governed, and protection from arbitrary authority. Liberalism The tenets or policies of a Liberal party. An economic theory in favor of laissez-faire, the free market, and the gold standard. As you can read above, liberal values are in direct contradiction of the straussian cult. No wonder they vilify and demonize liberals and their values every day.
You see mshey....and all of that wasn't really out of reach : a dictionnary. It's very funny, I say it again, this way to call 'liberals' the democrats. They are actually what we call 'liberals' in Europe. It's only recently that the notion of 'neo-conservatism' has been discovered here by the average citizen. Before, Bush was just a 'pope of ultra-liberalism'.
Well now liberals party are more associated to the left wing than to civil and political liberties. So are conservatives who are more right wing (laissez-faire, which should be a liberal doctrine) than anything else. These are all names. Like the national-socialist party, it was no socialist... Thing is, governments works first and foremost for themselves, not for the population. The goal is to have power, prestige, project a good image to the public and appear credible. To be willing to be a politician and face critisisim every day, your thirst for power has to be something driving you!
Quote from Maxprofit$: Well now liberals party are more associated to the left wing than to civil and political liberties. In North America, it's perhaps the case, but not in Europe. Just try to say you are a liberal here, and you'll see... Thing is, governments works first and foremost for themselves, not for the population. The goal is to have power, prestige, project a good image to the public and appear credible. To be willing to be a politician and face critisisim every day, your thirst for power has to be something driving you! I couldn't agree more.
The difference between Iraq and Iran is that Iran is actually developing weapons of mass destruction which are a threat to our key ally, Israel... Iraq simply bought WMDs from other countries and used em against the Shias and Kurds... It would be morally and strategically inconsistent not to attack Iran, given that we have already attacked Iraq for weaker reasons... As for the economic impact of an attack on Iran... oil prices will take a short-term dive and gold, a safe geopolitical haven, will spike... In the long-run, things will stablise... this is because the middle east will be effectively entirely under our control (we will have military bases in all key oil-producing countries) and oil supplies will be guaranteed for decades...
Yes i agree that if it works that way it can be a good solution. But will China, Russia and other countries accept that?
