ebay motors vs. wholesale auctions

I need to get a temporary replacement car ($5K budget), something for comfortable highway cruising. I've been checking VINs on Ebay motors. A lot of Ebay cars are recently acquired at traditional dealer wholesale auctions.

Can anyone provide examples of wholesale auction -> Ebay transactions?

I do have access to some local auctions through a dealer friend. I've heard the risk is higher and that wholesale auctions work well for dealers because they can amortize the cost of having to fix a few problems.

The advantage of Ebay motors seems to be the feedback system. Active sellers won't risk their feedback by selling a lemon.... mostly. Maybe that's worth paying extra for.

    Any advice?
