ebay gold price vs. futures/spot price... arb?

  1. Any arbitrage opportunities here?
  2. And if the Ebay seller backs out of the transaction ? Your stuck with your GC long or short and no hedge. Just a thought on something that could go terribly wrong with it . Good idea though. Maybe stick to power sellers only for more reliability.
  3. Epic

Any reputable gold seller on Ebay knows exactly how much gold they are selling in each auction. On average, gold on Ebay is running about $1700/ounce. There is consistently about a 20% markup on gold via Ebay. I've seen it selling as high as $2,200/ounce with many bidders. Unfortunately you are always on the buying end on Ebay and unless the spot price rose $400 in a single month there is no way to overcome the markup.
  4. You can calculate the future value of your current gold from the following software.
You can obtain the equivalent of your gold by entering the grams of your gold and the year you want to see.
The program calculates in ten-year period.
P.S.: All figures which are used in calculation of gold prices, compiled from comments of the experts.
