In their statement the SCOTUS refers to the common law as being something the Framers were knowledgeable about. They then imply that by common law this is the definition of NBC. However, they do word the next sentence so as to leave open the door to a broader interpretation by another court. Lacking that further interpretation, the court has narrowly defined the definition of NBC as having been born on U.S. soil of two U.S. citizens. Any interpretation beyond that is conjecture until and unless the Supreme Court further defines the definition of a natural born citizen.
