Earthquake & Tsunami in Japan Happening Now

Discussion in 'Economics' started by FroggerMan, Mar 11, 2011.

  1. The casualties/human deaths from a magnitude 9 earthquake should be 1 million to 2 million if it directly strikes a big city. But this Japan Earthquake epicenter is 400 km far away in the ocean. So casualties should be less.

It is 400km from Tokyo, not 400km away from the coast. It's 130km from Sendai. 7th biggest of all time, that should tell you something. The deaths will be mostly because of the tsunami, not the actual earthquake.

  6. 60 deaths.

I've been here in Tokyo for 44 years. This was the first time I've gone under my desk.

My condolences to those of you in Japan affected.
