Hi. Most of my trades are pre-earnings (long vol.). I have done maybe 20-30 trades where I held through earnings. Usually selling tight ICs or ratio trades but had limited success where a few big losses seemed to wipe out all my gains.
Smack down on AYI!! Who took this trade?? Hold thru 10am, vol will be much to bid first 30 min. Bid/Ask 124/128. This could be a perfect open
out @ 8.25 $5.00 winner. Wow that was juicy. Vol came in quite a bit (33%) I think this will go to 30% vol by 11am but I am happy pulling out here.
I suffered a drawdown as I was struggling to figure out a new strategy I am working on. Since then I have figured it out and account is racing past all time highs. I'll keep you guys posted with weekly updates from earnings.
That's a nice climb in the past two weeks! I've had a decent grind up in June, although I made a handful of smaller decision and execution mistakes that were a little annoying. But good overall performance obscures those as long as they aren't too drastic.
Fuck yea!!!!! Magic, wow that slope is smoother than a baby's bum! It looks like your running an high frequency firm over there
I was reading one of @atticus old journals and his method was day-trading fly's... he would enter/exit within a day or two at most it seemed. It never even dawned on me to utilize fly's like this. Have you ever traded like that @TheBigShort ?
@TheBigShort Can you expound how you use jump vol with the implied market move? Do you look at a metric for every potential earnings trade? Cheers
132 PEP Put avg 1.41 I think we go lower (for fundamental reasons) and ATM vol is way to cheap! Considering this is the first large company announcing this season, a $5 move is not out of the cards. PEP is also @ the top of it's range on all fundamental ratio's. Great risk:reward! Note* If you are selling ATM vol - the ATM implied move is 1.5x the current ATR. That is dirt cheap even for a company like PEP.
