  2. He never said that Helios is a CTA. Ryan ran his own CTA completely separate from Earn2Trade and Helios with another early co-founder. Those businesses never overlapped whatsoever.

Masten's linkedin shows Helios as a CTA. I haven't looked into it. There is a "Ryan Masten" Ask Me Anything over at futures.io.

All this will go away if with machine learning and advances in computing the test checking can be made autoamtic and thus free.. but this entire industry is based upon "1000 test x$200 and funded" but they won't admit it but cracks are appearing and hope enough people will relise that

  5. Good point traderjo

some firms like SMB Capital like to promote how much their funded traders are making.

Supposedly they have 3 funded traders who made
8 figures and lots who made 7 figures

If I had to guess though I doubt they pay out 80% to their traders and it’s probably more like 50% to 70% but on the other hand getting 50% to 70% of the profits and trading from a fixed drawdown of $25,000 to $250,000 or. Ore is better (in my opinion) than getting 80% of profits trading from an account that only offers $2,500 to $4,500 in drawdown. if you are any good then over time with SMB after starting off with a few thousand dollars in fixed drawdown and in 6 Months of consistent profitable trading moving to $25,000 fixed drawdown then perhaps in another 18 months to 2 years of consistent profitable trading they may give you a “fixed” drawdown of low to mid 6 figures or more to trade against—- a real drawdown and revolving funding not the pretend “trailing drawdown BS” that other firms tend to offer

I doubt Topstep and other firms have any “funded” traders - trading the firms risk who make 7 figures or 8 figures a year

Now of course SMB Capital did close its futures tryout division earlier this year so you cannot tryout with SMB Capital but the guy who ran it Merritt Black left and started his own tryout firm called Apteros

  6. That is incorrect. Helios is not a CTA and he never held it out to be a CTA. It was another company. I just looked myself on his Linkedin.

  9. Yes, he did run a CTA. The allegations against him by the CFTC do not mention any of these companies.
