e-signal SLOW charts

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by TonySanDiego, Dec 9, 2002.

  1. Thanks, guys. I'd love to get this resolved - it's been a problem since day one.

Who should I contact when I experience problems, LiveRep? That way you can peg the server/route that's causing the problems.

Also: sometimes later on during the day when I click on the symbol count and the system refreshes, all I get is the current intraday candlestick and all the ones before it remain blank. This can take several seconds to minutes for the chart(s) to populate. Sometimes I'll see red and black dashes along the top or bottom of the scale instead of real candles. Is this the same issue as the blank charts?

  2. Thanks Andy,

I will send my layout and supporting charts so you can bring it up. I am sure that will make it easier to see what I am doing.

My setup is quite simple though. Candlestick charts with only volume.

I generally run 2 or 3 min charts, but quite often have to take a quick peek at the daily to see what it looks like after I receive an alert.

BTW, what do you mean by CPU "freezing"? Do you mean pegged or the system locks up?

    Thanks

    Hi Tony,

With Win2k or XP, you can bring up the task manager, click on the performance meter & monitor your cpu usage. We detected in build 500 that at market open, when viewing multiple interval charts on fast moving markets (s&p emini), with multiple indicators, that the cpu was maxing out at 100%, thus causing the system to freeze. We have fixed this with build 513 and beyond (current beta is build 519). However, we never received a complaint of this happening with daily charts. This makes me concern that your problem is different.

    I'd be happy to test your layout, please post to here;

Or email all of your layout files to asmith@esignal.com. I'll be testing Tech Analysis's layout as well.

    Thanks,
    Andy S.

ES Z2 and ES H3 are humming along here. I don't see any internal reports of problems either so you may want to call into service or get on to LiveRep so we can troubleshoot with you.

    Thanks,

As we indicated, a few of us are testing how fast daily charts take to pull-up during market open. I started opening new charts ( on symbols never previously requested ) and daily charts are opening and filling-in within a second or so on each issue. Tried roughly 40 stocks within 3-4 minutes after the open. Working in both Advanced and Standard charts.

Just an FYI this morning. We'll keep testing...

    Thanks,

ES #F working OK here as well. Delete and re-enter? Not having any addt'l info, hard to say why you aren't seeing updates on that one particular symbol. Please contact us if it persists.

    Thanks,

I have a question not particularly related to this thread - but to using the #F function.

I've noticed in the past that if I use ES#F, I get inconsistent historical data (tick based) - I assume slightly different depending on what server I've connected to. If I use ES Z2 (for example), it is consistent. Is this a known issue?
