1 E-mini S&P 500 index contract = 500 SPY shares. 1 E-mini SP500 Point = .10 SPY cents. 1 E-mini SP500 Point is $50.00 USD = .10 SPY cents (times 500 shares) is $50.00 USD.
That is exactly what I needed. Thanks!! So when 4 ticks move on ES, does SPY move approximately 10cents? I am not familiar with stock, but for spy typical days I see about 4000 shares on bid and ask. That is only equivalent to 8 contracts ES. Does SPY traded this thinly? Will I encounter slippage if I decide to market buy 20K contracts?
This will differ all day. If you want to buy or sell 20K shares, you might get nothing, you might buy it and see more offered. No one can tell you in advance.
Correct. Liquidity issues prevent efficient stop placement and can result in large losses whereas ES is an excellent vehicle to trade with great confidence in being able to risk manage effectively.
Haha... I almost put something similar down, but decided not to... I've hit my "negative poke"-limit... That said, his account is probably as small as his knowledge re SPY, ES... Google Search to name a few.
