A dollar recovery overnight and better EUR/USD buying levels for Europe at the Wednesday open. German buying in the 1.2160-70 area runs contra to the M&A news that emerged overnight. Adidas is reportedly buying Reebok for USD 3.8 bln. On going buying of EUR/USD by Asian and East European central banks along with oil exporter demand plus improving economic fundamentals has given the EUR a new lease of life in recent sessions. With higher US rates pretty much factored into the dollar it is going to take a fresh bout of strong US numbers or a clearer indication of how high rates are likely to go before The USD rallies again. For the remainder of this week much depends on Friday"s payroll numbers but even this data will have to exceed positive expectations to underpin a fresh dollar rally. Through early London EUR/USD blasted through offers at 1.2230, hit stops at 1.2260 and ran all the way to 1.2320. Middle East demand coincided with better than expected Eurozone retail sale and PMI data. The next resistance point and bull target is at 1.2350, the failure high from June 8.
