And yet I and others have posted articles from South Africa showing the trend continues that over 90% of those hospitalized in South Africa with Omicron are unvaccinated. The only good news being that only 8% of these hospitalized patients with Omicron are in ICU in South Africa compared to 24% with the Delta variant. Bottom Line: Get vaccinated to avoid getting severely ill with Omicron.
According to Dr. Martin Makary of Johns Hopkins University, a report released by the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control found that though there are confirmed cases of Omicron in 23 [now 24] countries, "None of those cases have ended in hospitalization or death. All cases for which there is available information on severity were either asymptomatic or mild."
As pointed out many times before Makary is a anti-vax Covid-denier who continually pushes absurd misinformation. Let's take a look at the facts. The U.K. has many people in the hospital from Omicron. Yesterday the U.K. announced its first Omicron death. In South Africa - -where the Omicron strain is prevalent - they are experiencing 25 Covid deaths per day on average during the recent couple weeks. COVID: First death with Omicron variant has been confirmed in the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed that one person has died from the Omicron variant. https://www.gentside.co.uk/news/cov...ant-has-been-confirmed-in-the-uk_art8741.html Tags: COVIDOMICRON
You are laughable... is CBS, WSJ, USA Today, and all the other sources reporting this death in the U.K. also pushing misinformation. Is the announcement from the British P.M. and the U.K. Health agency also fake information.
It is my understanding that as of five days ago, Scotland had vaccinated 91% of those aged 12 and over with at least one dose, while Wales had reached 90%, England 89% and Northern Ireland 87%. So, with such high rates of vaccination, what percent of those "many people" were vaccinated, and to what degree? And what about the person who died? Was that individual vaccinated or not? Was he or she impacted by a comorbidity? More than one? Making an informed decision calls on government officials being open and forthcoming with all the details. It will be interesting to see if they are or not.
Good luck with your U.K. vaccination assertions -- the reality is that you need to look at the entire population It should be noted that over 90% of the hospitalizations are unvaccinated.
Cornell University reported 903 cases of Covid-19 among students between December 7-13, and a "very high percentage" of them are Omicron variant cases in fully vaccinated individuals, according to university officials. "Virtually every case of the Omicron variant to date has been found in fully vaccinated students, a portion of whom had also received a booster shot," said Vice President for University Relations Joel Malina in a statement.
