Dumping IB and switching too...

Discussion in 'Interactive Brokers' started by michaelscott, Mar 20, 2007.

  1. Can you give some details about your nightmare trades? What went wrong, why was IB responsible, and what did IB do about it?

Granted that IB has some customer service problems, but I believe this weakness is outweighed by the good at IB, for a knowledgeable trader, and that IB also continues to improve its customer service.

I am mystified by your stating that the IB platform is "dated and hasn't changed much". This statement is so far off from the truth, that it makes me a little suspicious as to whether or not you are truly an IB customer. I hope you will forgive me if my suspicion is unfounded. Your assessment is also the kind of judgment which could only be made by a knowledgeable trader. A knowledgeable trader would understand that the IB competitors you suggested perform unacceptably in the area of order routing and execution. Yet you seem unaware of this. Hmm.

  2. Well said, and more polite than I would be. I think it's a ridiculous n00b post from someone who doesn't know what he's talking about.
A-turd has a special department to handle types like that. Please go there.

Better be careful pointing out IB's flaws before kiwi_trader and his gang attack you. That reminds me... I forgot to put kiwi_trader on IGNORE. I'm going to do that right now.

  5. LOL. Just in case the wanker hasn't done it yet ... CScott, you are nothing but a wanking scum.

Certainly not a trader. Anyone who doubts Scott's pedigree just check out the first few pages of his posts.

    Scotty ... ur just a lowly wanker (can't get a f'k --- u'r way too ugly :p)

  6. me thinks tis a weasel...
    "Fooled by Randomness"...

Guys, you gotta lighten up on the noob. Stiff shit if someone bags IB - its not like they're perfect or anything, then again no broker is - maybe the other suggested joker-brokers are more suitable for them and where they're at with their trading.

Is it just me, or does bagging IB (warranted or not) hit a raw nerve with some ETers?

  7. Anyone have an opinion on Cybertrader? I am currently with Fidelity and am not too thrilled about there order routing. (Basically route everything to NFSC).

I am also interested in futures so Cybertrader covers stocks options and futures in one platform. Ok commisions and backed by Schwab.

My screen got stuck fight after the fed announcement. Cost me about a grand in lost opp costs.

    Any input would be appreciated.

  9. I'm happy to see honest, legitimate, public criticism of IB, because I think it helps IB to improve and to do a better job of serving its customers (including me). This is part of the process of how IB functions. I'm not happy when I see or suspect unfair and untruthful criticism from people who lack the knowledge they purport to possess, or who are IB competitors masquerading as IB customers, seeking to harm and to deceive IB and its customers, instead of seeking to assist them.

If you don't believe me, that I am fine about honest, constructive criticism of IB, then just use the IB search function to look at my prior postings, and you will find examples where I do criticize IB.

  10. IB quotes are all messed up after the fed reports. Any Cybertrader opinions are welcome. IB servers just cannot handle the surge in volume anymore.
