Sorry, I was misleading when I said,
"used to also have NT but FAT32 became an issue so I eliminated it.".

I wasn't referring to System Commander having a problem with that since after you select from it's boot menu it takes itself out of memory. In other words, it doesn't matter how many partitions you have, nor how they're formatted (FAT16, FAT32, NTFS) since once it loads your o/s it's done it's job.

The reason I said that FAT32 became an issue when I had NT was because I wanted to have a larger than 2gb partition for various reasons, and while Win98, Win2000, and WinXP have no trouble reading/writing to FAT32, it can be a problem with NT. So I eliminated NT because I no longer needed it, nothing to do with S.C.

    Hi Guys
Appreciating this discussion. I bought a new 120 Gb 8 Mb buffer great hard drive and Win XP Pro about 6 mo. ago. Was waiting for the first service pack to Win XP which is now available - see below. I have a 500 Mhz computer with 384 megs of Ram and Win 98 SE. I'm concerned that I'll have lots of hardware and software compatibility issues with XP and am considering a double boot option so I can use old software and make sure my hardware works right. I hear both System Commander & Partition Magic are good. Thoughts on which is best? Thoughts on doing a dual boot with this setup? And other thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Win XP Pro Service Pack 1 SP 1

Just wanted to let everyone using Win XP Pro know that the first Service Pack - SP 1 is available at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/...sp1/default.asp I bought XP Pro a while back with a new 120 gig 8 MB buffer hard drive and was waiting for this to install it. Hope I don't have too many hardware/software conflicts. From doing more research on this I've found out pretty much what many of you have been saying that XP works best with newer hardware and software. I talked to the former Senior Technology Editor of Winmag.com, and he recommended XP Pro so that was what pushed me into going with XP rather than Win 2k. But I hear both are good once set up properly.
