I agree with Riskarb on position size, it was pretty mental for a swing trade, but DRT's net worth might be a 7 digit one. Fair comment on risk IMHO. I wouldn't let that comment deter me from posting though. In the end of the day the main objective was to help others, right? So not revealing what %age of your net worth you normally would expose per trade, can send the wrong message to novice traders as it is one of the reasons how people get burnt in this game.
This is almost all way too sophisticated for me, which is why Iâve been reluctant to comment. DRT âgood,â riskarb âbad,â that I get. But the rest needs to be dumbed down. Like the part about Euro hitting 130, quoted with the comment above. I thought Euro was losing value recently. Euro âgood,â dollar âbadâ â thatâs how I need it. Thanks.
Chood Come on over to "potty talk". All are welcome.... http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=76808
Thank you Riskarb. This was exactly the crux of my point and you brought it to the forefront very clearly. -- How could there be simultaneous 50 EC and 30 JY in the one account? --Can't be--Again, thank you for being the voice of reason.
Perhaps whether EURUSD hitting 1.130, 1.30 or else by the end of Oct 2006 is not that important. My newbie guess is when trading EURUSD with futures/ spot/ options, Anyone who IS able to know/ predict an upcoming (whatever) price level in the near future (within such a short time span) would be easily owning this financial world almost in no time.
Thatâs an equivocation and, like this thread, a push. Some say DRT is crushing rocks and revealing gemstones, others that, jeez, with the sledgehammer heâs swinging, the rocks heâs gonna break are his own. Me? I like jewels a lot, my own over others. The rest of your post is subtle and correct, attributes I appreciate.
Guys, just a couple more comments before I go hide in the corner to sob Romik, my friend, I'm sorry, but the following statement is mistaken: Using the link provided in late apex's previous post, DRT categorically stated his risk/trade parameters - and also stated that his approach to risk is flexible and nontraditional. Additionally, the idea of "net worth" was never touched uipon, but rather how he assumes risk within his "trading accounts" . These two values could be miles apart - who is anyone of us to even conjecture the difference? I unfortunately cringe whenever the mention of novice traders appears. Trading is an intellectual pursuit. If a person chooses to enter the arena unprepared intellectually, then his destined demise is solely of his own creation. Please excuse my coarse analogy, but do they also need to run home to Mommy to get their asses wiped? Acting on any trading related idea purely because its offered on the internet is, and should remain, in the realm of dullards. Simply, this stuff takes serious effort and committment. Final thought - if DRT was trying to accomplish anything, I feel he only wished to demonstate to others that iit is possible to think outside the box. Personally, I feel he succeeded in doing so ...
Poetic justice? Odd use of the phrase. You may want to try again. Unfortunately. DRT's last trade wasn't terribly poetic. You may want to define irony.
