The 9% figure was from the 2010-11 common data set (91% providing SAT).

What if I cannot take the SAT or ACT in my country?

These standardized tests are now given in almost all countries. We realize you may have to travel some distance or plan for testing long in advance, but these test results are required tools in our analysis of applications. In our competitive applicant pool, students lacking these test results are usually denied admission. Foreign students in one of the very few countries where the SAT is not available (for example, China) may submit alternative testing such as the Graduate Record Examination. For more information about the GRE, consult www.gre.org. Students in such countries should also take the TOEFL.

The ACT is based in the midwest, and that's where it's the most popular. Most admissions offices will take either, and they have tables to correlate them. Somewhat, as I think the SAT is more g-loaded (correlative to IQ), or at least it used to be.

    Asswipe,

Ask yourself how you would respond, or expect the authorities to respond, to a bunch of consanguineous rednecks stopping on the street, in front of your hovel, waving M4s and screaming, "hey, sister-fucker!"

You'd probably expect some action by law-enforcement.

He provided a 2230 SAT score as well. That's top 22K of all US applicants.

Did you watch the widely distributed video of the event. That is not what happened.

I am not a supporter of this confederate flag crowd but felony terrorism charges are prosecutorial overkill in this particular situation and not called for.

The prosecutor in this case is being compared to the Duke Lacrosse prosecutor - who aggressively prosecuted the students so he could get re-elected in Durham by pandering to the minority voters who are 60% plus of the city.

What you say is correct in that the full load of the tuition can only be afforded by the wealthy. And it is also true that statistically students that graduate from these very good high schools have an advantage when it come to being admitted to the most selective colleges. Nevertheless students who are admitted to the elite private 'high schools' are admitted because they are extremely bright and accomplished for their age; not because their parents are multimillionaires . A dull student will not be admitted regardless of their parents income, unless of course the parents give an extraordinary gift. In that case a way may be found to guide the dull student through to graduation.

All of these private schools have substantial endowments, and qualified students are admitted regardless of the parents' ability to pay the very steep tuition. Tuition aid is substantial. The students at these elite schools are international in scope. I say this as a non-multimillionaire parent with first hand experience.

Mu personal experience allows me to compare a son who went to all public schools and then to an elite Ivy; a daughter who went to an elite private high school and then to a first rate college and an Ivy graduate school. Of these two paths, the latter is better. Put your money into high school; then college will take care of itself.

So you saw what happened before the video? Who is comparing him to the Duke Lacrosse prosecutor? So answer the question... you would welcome some rednecks with M4s to park outside your home and screaming epithets at you? Did the black family drive to the redneck's trailer?

To point some fingers at you fucking clowns defending this shit... yeah, you're the fucking problem. Ask yourself how abjectly fucking, strabismus-having, touch-touching fucking stupid you have to be to defend their actions by authoring this thread.

Still another advantage of an elite high school education is that it expands ones vocabulary so that one is able to engage in civilized discussions without insulting one's correspondent.

  10. That is a very good comparison. This is a typical PC prosecution. They kept claiming they only wanted the Confederate Flag off public grounds. Now they want to criminalize displaying it.
