"I make an effort not to overdo it", "beer is my friend", "I'll throw up maybe 1-2X a year"... "I'll throw up maybe 1-2X a year from drinking"... Speaks for itself, doesn't it? And you want to be a trader? LOL!!! What a loser! Gekko, if you really want to actually succeed as a trader one day in the far future, you should make an effort not to drink at all. You need to know when to stop man or you're just a loser case. I did this in my teens man. That's actually the age where you're supposed to LEARN from stupidity - not continue it throughout your life! Myself, I drink rarely. If I drink, I always make sure I have enough food in my stomach and I tend to drink so that I could still (legally!) drive if I wanted to. I'll have the occassional glass of wine or a good beer / scotch / whatever. I'll even have a joint if occassion arises, I'm not always that straight. But not get heavily intoxicated on alcohol, that's sheer pubescent stupidity of the worst kind. And everybody will tell you, too. Just because your parents tell you it's stupid, doesn't mean it isn't. They might actually have a reason for what they say. People who get so drunk that they need to vomit simply lack self-control and discipline. Period. People who lack discipline don't belong into the trading world. Get a life, folks - and you, "Gordon Gekko", go and do some Martial Arts. You'll be amazed how much better your chances would be to become a trader. ~Scientist
Gekko, you are acting like an immature pimple faced teenager. What are you doing trading ? You don't appear to have the maturity or emotional control required to be a successful trader, a writer, perhaps. Drink in moderation, red wine is good for your health. Drugs are illegal.
Pardon my bluntness, but what a little crybaby culture we've become. If you don't like drinking, quit! You don't need AA or AAA or BBB (little bond humor there). I smoked for years. Didn't like it anymore. I quit! No patch, no hypnotism, no soliciting prostitutes to take my mind off smoking. I quit! So quit drinking! Now! And you guys you say, "Oh, I never drink. I don't understand why someone would do that to themselves." You guys are even worse. Shut up! We drink because it's fun and we like it and for a couple hours we can forget we live in a world with self-important prigs like you. So shut up!
Oooh, Gekko! Losing temper now? Man your immaturity never fails to surprise me. Let's list up some great quotes: <i>-"A person without self-control is as defenseless as a city with broken-down walls" -"Get all the advice that you can & be wise for the rest of your life" -"Fools think they need no advice, but the wise listen to others" -"To learn, you must want to be taught. To refuse correction is stupid" -"Anyone willing to be correctedd is on the path to success. Those who refuse correction have lost their chance."</i> These are things that come into my head when I look at your posts. It's really quite sad, you know. I gave you some sincere advice when your account was down to nothing. You asked for help, and I answered all your questions you asked me via PM, etc etc... You were very greatful for it at the time. Do you want me to post your PM's on here? I speculate you'd rather save yourself the embarrassment. All I meant to do is help. As it turns out, you obviously not only -completely- wasted my time, but you insulted me on top of that. You did the same with all the other ET members, who have wasted so much of their valuable time trying to help you on all your "I'm a loser, pity me" threads. You owe all those ET members a big sorry, methinks. This is the apex of immature and ungracious behaviour, and I think you really, sincerely, should be ashamed of yourself. If I were you, I wouldn't even want to look at myself in the mirror anymore. Think about it. Since I'm not going to have a thread-war with you (I don't fight with inferiors, but with like-minded people), this will be my last post to you. IMHO, You shouldn't even be hanging around on ET anymore. Your number of posts speaks for itself. Not to mention the substance in them. I think we all know what I'm talking about. Have a good look at yourself, Gekko, and you might realize what an attention-craving, desperate loser you are. Amazingly enough, you're even more pathetic than Optional777 or FPC - You aren't even funny. If your life is a piece of shit - Work on it. You know, you're the master of your own destiny. You can be or do anything. As long as you blame others, you'll always be the fool, the loser. Don't bother sincere ET members with it, though. And particularly don't insult them, thank you very much. If you want to know how you can alleviate your misery, other than joining Jimi Hendrix by suffocating on your own vomit, here some suggestions; 1. Take in well-meant advice when you get it. 2. Stop being a drinker and start being a man. 3. Recognize that you're a loser. 4. Once you realized that, work on it. 5. Once you understand point 4, the world is your oyster. 6. Start being a new man and enjoy your new life. I won't wish you good luck here, since you won't need it. It's all up to you, "Gordon Gekko". And by the way - I expect your apologies - To me as well as all other ET members! Thanks. CU on the other side, ~The Scientist P.S: Anybody who agrees is very welcome to join me and reinforce/add to these comments, to the benefit of Gekko...
Drugs are illegal. [/QUOTE] Unless you have a note from your doctor. Just like kindergarten...hmmm... you can do anything as long as someone of authority says it's okay. Unless, of course, that person is from Enron.
I wish I was a good drunk, after a few years of working at it I guess I was a pretty good drunk. I had a drinking buddy that drank himself into homelessness. He was a bad drunk too, worse probably when he was homeless. He asked me once if I had seen the people sitting on bus benches talking to themselves. I said yes. He said he knew what they were talking about! What I finally did was to just never finish the first drink. I would nurse a drink all evening, let the free rounds accumulate in front of me and then give them away after awhile. Worked for me, if you never finish the first drink you really never get drunk and then after awhile it just isn't that much fun anymore and you move on.
