  1. CPAC Participant Defends Slavery At Minority Outreach Panel: It Gave ‘Food And Shelter’ To Blacks

NATIONAL HARBOR, Maryland — A panel at the Conservative Political Action Committee on Republican minority outreach exploded into controversy on Friday afternoon, after an audience member defended slavery as good for African-Americans.

The exchange occurred after an audience member from North Carolina, 30-year-old Scott Terry, asked whether Republicans could endorse races remaining separate but equal. After the presenter, K. Carl Smith of Frederick Douglass Republicans, answered by referencing a letter by Frederick Douglass forgiving his former master, the audience member said “For what? For feeding him and housing him?” Several people in the audience cheered and applauded Terry’s outburst.

After the exchange, Terry muttered under his breath, “why can’t we just have segregation?” noting the Constitution’s protections for freedom of association.

ThinkProgress spoke with Terry, who sported a Rick Santorum sticker and attended CPAC with a friend who wore a Confederate Flag-emblazoned t-shirt, about his views after the panel. Terry maintained that white people have been “systematically disenfranchised” by federal legislation.

When asked by ThinkProgress if he’d accept a society where African-Americans were permanently subservient to whites, he said “I’d be fine with that.” He also claimed that African-Americans “should be allowed to vote in Africa,” and that “all the Tea Parties” were concerned with the same racial problems that he was.

At one point, a woman challenged him on the Republican Party’s roots, to which Terry responded, “I didn’t know the legacy of the Republican Party included women correcting men in public.”

He claimed to be a direct descendent of Confederate President Jefferson Davis.

The panel continued to be racked in controversy, as an African-American audience member repeatedly challenged the racism on display at this event. CPAC is the marquee conservative conference of the year, with speakers ranging from former Presidential Candidate Mitt Romney to Senator Marco Rubio.

And here is a video of far left white union goons attacking a black tea partier, if you actually want to go tit for tat on stupid things done by random people in a group setting id love to point out how violent the left is as opposed to right wing protesting.

  3. Won't happen. Blacks are indoctrinated from birth by the leftist establishment. They are told that they are less intelligent, less able than their white counterparts. It is evidenced in all aspects of their young lives, especially in school. Consequently they believe that they are less intelligent, so it's obvious to them that any dark skinned person who leans conservative and speaks intelligently must be a puppet of the demon whitey. So I guess it's true that racism is taught. In today's world it's mostly taught by leftists in the educational system, leftist politicians, and of course the mouthpieces in the leftist media.

  5. Disagree.Blacks know that there are a large number of racists in the republican party who think that if you give food and shelter to someone you have a right to beat, rape, buy and sell them. 90 % of blacks are smart enough not to vote for that party .

  7. Some of the biggest racists I have encountered are black. The term "racism" as it stands in the US from a gov't and national perspective pays very, very well for those who use it skillfully to their advantage. This is just one more aspect of the decaying nanny state, and the parasites who use "race" to enrich themselves. You sound as if you are one of the dupes enabling this scheme to continue. It is all just a smokescreen and bullshit, otherwise why do we hear it nonstop on main-stream propaganda outlets.

  8. Well then my question to you if you were not so much of a pussy to have me on ignore would be: then why do they continue to vote so asymmetrically for the democrat party, the one of enslavement to big govt, learned helplessness and universal inferiority on all socio-economic measures?
