Dont believe them when they said they care about the Constitution....

  1. Every school, private or otherwise, needs to be subject to meeting state testing standards. And religious affiliated (private non profit not part of the church but affiliated with) are entitled to compensation for bringing students to those levels). That would include public schools. Ironically, their failure is one of the major drivers of demand for vouchers yet everyone seems worried about the quality of private schools. It's the "let's just let them continue to fail in our local school because we are used to that and it is not scary or create any change."

Also keep in mind that schools such as Catholic schools put the public ones to shame. I am talking about their education on traditional secular core topics. They are one of the saving graces in shit-hole places on the dem plantation.

Right now, private school parents pay twice. Once for the private school and tax dollars to support the failing public school. They should be entitled to voucher or credit for successfully educating their children - where that can be demonstrated - while simultaneously relieving the public school of the expense of educating them.

Since many private schools do not do any standardized testing -- how will you know if they are meeting state standards?

  3. I am talking about "going forward" situations. If a state has an arrangement currently where they do not do state testing for all students, then hat is not something I would support. Ditto for the public schools that do not do testing. It is not just the students, you have some states/ if not all where the teachers fight testing of them (the teachers) tooth and nail. And they fight testing of their students tooth and nail too because the results are ugly.

I can't go state by state and respond to each situation. I am talking about any scenarios where - under Trump- states get federal funds and vouchers are a part of that package. Obviously the states have local control, but as usual, when they accept federal funds, the feds get to weigh in and set conditions and requirements or not. That is a large discussion. But one that needs to be had.

Did you ever notice that the states which do not require testing for all students and teachers in private and/or public schools tend to be red states?

  5. Read it again..you missed it.....government not allowed to support or promote religion.

and nothing in the constitution about an education? Lot of things not in the Constitution but government provides for..roads, food safety, police, fire....can't find them in the constitution either. What you find is separation of church and state.

And you must not be a homeowner because property taxes go to fund local education so yes we do pay for it.

Just walk away...your short minded bias is handcuffing you from discussing the law.

  6. We agree then...no religion should be taught in schools and religion as part of history is already taught in schools...

then wtf is the problem. I stop at taxpayer vouchers being used for a kid to go to a religious school where the religion is part of the curriculum. That violates the 1st A.

  7. Yeh, I dunno. I am actually not approaching it from that game. Vast lefty populations resist it as well. Lefties have fucked up their educational systems about as badly as they can so if you point out red state problems that does not necessarily mean that we should do as they lefties are doing. I am saying if there is a federally promoted voucher system I have things that I will need to see. Whether that makes me a red state or blue state person, I don't give a fuck.

  9. Yes. "where the religion is part of the curriculum" are the operative words. Which leaves open religiously affiliated non-proft education programs and schools that are only teaching the secular portions of education. Just as Catholic Charities receives funding for providing secular services even though it is religiously affiliated, and just as Catholic hospitals receive government reimbursement for medical care provided even though they are religiously affiliated.
