Check out the first thread where the discussion started: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3334 Aren't we all!
For the newer people, be sure to go back and read about the "slingshot" and the "shake out" concerns right after the opening, and how to counter them both. In recent weeks we have tried to vary envelopes by using sector pages of our automated program, and it has worked pretty well. Gotta go do my "continuing education" for the Series7 now.....back at ya later. Don
Yes I will do that, I just went to the end of this string and back paged a few to read where everyone was at in relation to the opening trade strategy.......excellant site. Good trading all, mrktwiz
too many fills, up a few cents gross, down a few cents net. will widen my envelope a little more. missed a couple of nice ones - a little slow mentally I think, today. KSS opened short at 74.60, was offered at 74.37 within seconds, and offere lifted to .55 and then .75 within a few seconds more. Got out at .56.
Go back and read some of the notes about placing "stop winners" - to counter this exact thing. So many worry about placing stop "losses" to avoid losing money, I like to assure profits by placing winning exit orders when I get too many fills. Might help....can't help with the "slow mentally" problem, however.
Don, Where would you place a stop winner in the KSS example? I'm a little unclear as to how and when. Thanks
I have battled the KSS spec on many of occassions, not only on OO's. I mostly broke even or lost slightly - he is all over the place, but recently, I have begun to understand him and he has been good to me. UTX is another one, and he used to kill me, but slowly I have come to know what to expect with him as well, and that has made all the difference. nitro
Don, Im my experience, if I wait to see how many fills I have gotten, it is too late on stocks like KSS. Is it "wrong" to put the "stop winner" order in regardless, or is that too likely to give up to much on riding winners? nitro
