10.23 Bootcampers at 80% (4 of 5 who were filled) with profits. Total about 62 cents....not too bad!! Don
100% for Bootcampers on the opening today....2 of them made over $1.00 (again, I guess they're not experienced enough to know that they should only make 25 cents or so... Don
7 fiils, 4 losers, 3 winners but all were big movers right from the open. Took out all the merger stocks but other stocks moved in sympathy with them I guess. Starting out the week down but not out. Already recouped most of my opening losses with the predator pro envelope strategy. Anyone trade the merger stocks? BAC, FBF, MME, UNH, WLP, ATH?
No open orders today. I am subjest to losing power any minute here, so I didn't want it to happen in the middle of OO. Tried BMY 3 times after the open, -.09 for my trouble. Had a lot of excitement here yesterday. The fires were very near my house, a couple of miles on 2 sides. But no harm except for absolutely horrid air quality. The fires seem to be out in my vicinity. We caught a big break with the wind last night. It died to nothing so the fires around here just burned themselves out. I was driving around Poway to get a better look at exactly where the fires were. Where I wanted to go was blocked off, and I was directed down another road. I came around a curve and got more look than I bargained for. The whole side of a hill was burning about 50 yards off the road. I was amazed to find about 100 people standing along side the road with vcr's and cameras. If the wind had gusted up at that moment, they would have all been toast. The CHP was just pulling up to run them all off, and I beat feet too. That was the excitement for me. Mighty glad I didn't have to do the water hose in the back yard thing.
I hope all the SD traders are doing OK. I remember back to the last big fires in SoCal...pretty devastating... Keep Safe Tony....(and all!) Don
Another day when I wonder what the heck I am doing this for. The market simply has my number, no matter what I try to do. Long, short, good setup, poor setup..... just ain't gonna get my move. I guess I am grumpy because I can't breath. The air is soooo bad. How bad is the air. I saw a diesel coughing. No OO this morning. But after the open. LMT -.02 TXN -.01 on 3 tries BLS -.01 HAL -.01 FDC -.05 this was a poor trade exacerbated (made worse) by the ass specialist. Jump the bid/ask all around and show 1, and don't print anything for 2 minutes. We need the specialist like a fish needs a bicycle. (With apologies to the feminists. remember the 70's, "a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle")
----------------------------------- Tony, when things are not going your way I think you should just step aside and take a break. Especially with what is going on in So Cal right now, make a roadtrip and get away for a couple of days. Why not head over to Phoenix and sit in with the guys in Phoenix and see what they are doing. It might give you some fresh ideas and a breath of fresh air. Today: 7 fills, 4 small winners, 1 medium size winner and 2 small losers. Much better than yesterday. Predator envelopes working well, so far 4 winners and 1 break even.
Brand new bootcamper, Ms. Christine, up to 1500 shares on 5 stocks, netted $495 this morning... All netted profits today. I hope you realize that our communications over the year (s), has gone way beyond any concerns over where you trade, and I certainly am not trying to bring you here (heck, why would I....LOL, just kidding)... But, I do wonder if you simply need to take a step back, lay off for a while...and get back to the real, real basics. 2 stocks, opening and all day. 1,000 share minimum (get up to 2000 soon)...You cannot be in this business this long "grinding down" your account with small shares. You have to clear your head, and then "go for it" correctly, or simply make the conscious decision to take another path. If you can use Redi, I would even allow you to come here for a week to see how my guys (and girls) are doing. Maybe you could trade via Internet ....and, I wouldn't charge you anything. I figure that I have enough time invested in your success, that I may as well give it one last shot.... Feel free to call me 800.249.7488 (any other communication in this regard should probably be IM). Don
Thanks for the kind words... I think I was just grumpy this morning because I made a bad trade in FDC. I am logging on from work. I just went out to my truck in the parking lot. This smoke is unbelievabal. It is like late afternoon. I thought maybe we had cloud cover in additional to the smoke. Nope, there was the sun, just a faint dark orange ball. It is getting a little scarey. I walked to my truck breathing through my shirt. Hope we get a breeze soon. What is happening is that the breeze inland, the remains of the santa ana, is still blowing toward the coast. But the wind stalls out and the smoke is just getting dumped here. There is not the slightest stir of air outside where I am. Yuck.. Yuck.. Yuck.
I agree with Don, Tony. You've been doing openings for a while now and still bascially scratch everything. At some point you have to have the confidence to really trade these things. Give them time to work and realize you could be wrong for 15 cents or more- and be ok with it. And another thing, don't give so much weight to the open book for big cap stocks right on the open. It will just confuse you and is basically useless because there is so much order flow the book is always behind and not reflecting what's happening in the market. Key off other stocks in the same sector and the spoos. If you have only a handfull of positions you can read the tape more closely, but in and out for a few pennies everytime isn't helping your trading. Keep up the hard work, and good luck with the fire situation.
