As I said, smaller price targets. 3 winners out of 3 fills. +.05, +.07, and a good one with C +.16 for about $560. These are posted for example purposes of a strategy, not as an accounting record (keep my compliance officer happy). How you guys doing?? Don
The low volatility. 8 fills, half long, half short. Overall decent green with only 2 losers.. Citi did move nicely off the open, can't complain about that one!
What a freaking disaster. NSM went against me immediately, but came back for me, +.27 NEM -.43 no chance to get loose prior. HRB -.50 same GFI +.02 GG +.05 Bad day today, and no good chance to repair the damage what with this slow ass market.
I know a lot of people that did well on a C OPG order, (self included). On this thread (and it's predecessors), I've seen a number of postings saying that with a bunch of players, OPG's just don't work. Well we are now on the 100th page of the 6th incarnation of this journal on a website with tons of active traders and we still see things like this all the time. The NYSE is a big place with lots of stocks and while I know a lot of people talk/type about the OPG and ask me how it's doing, very few people do it. That's the way it is now, that's the way it's been since I've known about the OPG's a few years ago and that's probably the way it will continue to be. Kinda like lotto: "You gotta be in it to win it" (but I like odds are better ) Cash
Cash, I think you make a very good point about very few people doing openings. I know a couple of guys who were doing the openings last summer and then quit completely in October when they had a couple of bad days. Actually, what I like best about openings is that the entry is taken care of for you-all you have to do is manage the trade(s) once they are given to you (and hopefully its not a hot potato!-I received two today-HRB and WEN).
You're exactly right about the Openings "getting you in" the trade. Also, it "gets you in the game"mentally, you're focused on the market, ready to work, rather than waiting for something to "break out" or some other anomaly.
Like an idiot, I stayed in GM, and covered the short at 40.09, then it drops like a rock to 39.63 (so far), and I was short CCU (Made $100, but again covered too soon at $42.50, then it drops to 42.23, still make $100). Make $160 in HD, so I had a break even (covered costs). We're doing a ground breaking for the expansion of our building in Las Vegas this morning, so I was a little distracted (no excuse). We'll have the media here to cover the expansion, we'll have room for over 100 traders in our corporate office.....and make the training room a bit nicer......and an elevator for my fat self. It was kinda cool, the County donated the alleyway behind the building (35'x60' or so), and we bought the property to the East......should be done in 85 working days. Stay tuned!! Don
FCS +.12 LMT +.07 FRX +.15 NSC+.02 Again I had some trouble with my system. Position Summary froze up, and I didn't realize it right away. Screwed up some exits, or I woulda had more. Boy, every day it is either system, software, or, more prevalent, mentalware errors. My goal is to get through one trading day without any of the above.
8 fills, 7 winners, CAT was the only one that hurt today.... Most of the winners were small, between 5 and 9 cents per trade.
