Good Job. We had a good week for the new people on the openings as well. We "tightened up" on Friday.... Have a great weekend.... Don
OK, Filled on 7, profits on 6 (gave up too soon on FNM, cost me 30 cents)..... Plus $620 (31 cents). C: Coulda, shoulda held it....but with all the negative news, I took a quick profit. Had bootcampers go in at .8 envelope, adjust for the indications....we'll see how they did at the morning review. You guys?? Don
3 longs 12 shorts SDS and AIG gapped against me right away and I lost alot on them. Then with my back against the wall I covered my longs and crossed my fingers and hung on to most of my shorts. Ended up making $$ but I was down alot more than I made. In the end I didn't get out of all my trades 'till about 9am (cst). The open didn't make sense again. I have no idea why those stocks went against me that quickly, and I consider my self lucky that I made money at all.
How many stocks are you putting in? We all want 3 or 4 every day, and a few more sometimes, but if you're getting too many fills, it's obviously harder to manage. Thought this might help: Recap for my new traders (bootcamp) for this morning. a. +1.20 b. (-.97 ouch) c.(.-10) d. +.95 e. +7 f. +.44 g. +.29 h. +.49 i. + .09. j. + .54 k. + 1.06 So, with 11 participating, 9 winners, 2 losers, a pretty good average. I may post this for a bit, if it seems to help anyone....my thought is that it is "one thing" to see whay I do, or my brother, or more experienced traders do, and quite another to see what the brand new people are able to do. This is a Monday, so I'll start today... Let me know what you think.... (and, yes, I'll post the bad days too, this just happened to be a pretty good one, although not the best by any means)... Don
A dream day for me on the openings, one of my best ever. I had 9 longs and one short and a 100% win rate. $2.43 before commissions, $2900 gross. And to top it off, I upped my base size to 1600 shares today. But many of the stocks have been so active lately that I cut back the size on a lot of them. My biggest winner was C at $0.55, but I only had 800 shares in him.
Lescor, You the man! Great job!!!!....keep posting ...I read this string every day. Good trading all... mrktwiz
How many stocks are you putting in? We all want 3 or 4 every day, and a few more sometimes, but if you're getting too many fills, it's obviously harder to manage. I am putting in 50 stocks. Today I used .85 on the sell side and 1.0 on the buy side (envelope). I seem to get at least one day a week where a stock that has made me $ in the past goes .50+ against me. Today I had two. It's not the managing of 15 fills that bothers me, it's the fear that hits you when your down 1.50$ on two stocks and you have 13 other stocks to deal with and possibly add to your loss. After a summer of managable, profitable openings, I am constantly plagued by these runaway stocks. I have been trading the same stocks for 3 months now, I guess it's time for some deletions.
Dave look at all of your losers. See if you can find patterns in them. Indications that might give you clues that the stocks can hurt you today Robert
