4 longs today, all small winners. Took all the retailers off my list, but forgot HD. Made a few pennies in it. Made about 30 cents before commissions.

Hey Robert, can you tell me why I only got 15 cents out of HRB on Friday when I was short 1900 shares and it fell almost $3 without a retracement? Those ones bug me, but alas my hindsight is so much better than my foresight.

  3. Thanks for the insight.

Truly, I cannot read the tape that well. I will take this lesson to heart and look to improve my tape reading..

    Now, in my defense.... :D

I had put the order in, and was working BLS at the time it hit my buy order.

Unfortunately, BLS was not looking as promising, and I was getting out. I had had a thought about pulling the cover order, but I never took it down.

    Here are the charts.

PS I held them for 15 min, pretty fair amount of time for "the rabbit" :p

  4. The best thing to do Corey is pull up time and sales afterwards.

I knew you well, you always keep great records.

Study the past history of time and sales with the bid and offers showing in between.

There was a huge difference between today FOX and the futures
    and

    Friday HRB and the futures.

HRB was going down with futures making a new high from the open. Much lower probability.....

Today FOX was going down with futures tanking.....

    much higher probability

  5. I see
but what were futures doing at the time?

    Futures going down.........

and you are covering a short while watching a long.......

    next time vice versa.
If futures are tanking cover the longs and watch the shorts...

  6. Well actually I was covering the long as you suggested was wise. Unfortunately I already had the buy order in for FOX, and it hit while I was preoccupied with BLS.

Your point however is well taken. Let you winners work for you and lose the iffy ones.

Just kiddin' buddy, actually I bailed all my shorts at once on that one. That was the right thing to do at the time, but HRB didn't follow the playbook. Just irksome to leave that much coin on the table.

    Five longs

    One short

    Four losers

    Two winners

    Avg. Win .13

    Avg. Loss .26

Used stops on my losers. Lotsa slippage

Covered my winners when the market popped a bit after the open and they didn't move.

  9. Three small green and a tie.

    AA +.15

    IP +.10

    AZN +.18

    and.....

    HI .00

HI gave me a very hard time, I held through a pretty stiff drawdown which came about very quickly.

    Was I dumb and lucky??

    Here is the chart.

  10. Got a little stuck in GS today....lost about 30 cents.....but what the heck, I got back in and lost another 40 cents.......(it then came back nicely, so we did fine, but the opening was nasty). Oh well, we're all human, stuff happens...
