...I read this string "every" day and actually find great value in it, from <ALL> (not just Don) who implement the Opening Orer strategy.....

    just my .02 cents...again

    Good trading all....

  2. It's a journal of a strategy. I have had dozens of people thank me for the information...and even traders with other firms (remember 'hitman"?)....and compared to other "journals" around, I think a reality based, daily strategy should be helpful. So, based on the positive responses, and the "views" I think I'll keep it going for a while.

Note on "promotion"...If anyone checks, I'm sure that you'll find that the biggest percentage of my posts are not "promotion" at all. I have had to correct some erroneous information at times.....but most of the time, I am just participating like everyone else. I guess I could make up an "alias" but I never have done that. I've been on bulletin boards since the old days on the Source in 1979, answering trading questions and such.

I enjoy the friendly debates on trading topics, and I do my best to help others. When it comes to BT, I can only answer with what I know to be true...

So now, a couple of members will be able to slam back with their "opinions" of me....but I guess that's the price I pay for being open. This does get a bit tiring at times, but what the heck....you can't please everyone.

    Good Trading...

I don't presume to speak for Don, but I'd like to address your question.

Like any strategy, it can sometimes help to know how others using the same strategy are doing on a given day. If, for example, you don't do well, and nobody else did, then you might just chalk it up as a bad day for that strategy. Over time, you could possibly develop some ideas as to when the strategy is higher probability than not. On the other hand, if you didn't "swap notes" (especially if you're trading remote), you might think that you did something wrong that day, and then start making unneccesary or harmful changes to your approach.

Due to the nature of the opening orders, it's helpful to know if people got many or few fills, and how they did. I appreciate Don and others taking the time to do this.

  4. Don-
I don't think anyone would object to learning something new. Posting "Entered 10 OO's.....8 winners"....what does that teach? Why don't you talk about envelope settings.....or something else that is actually helpful. Or talk about how to automate it w/ excel or something.
The reason Hitman's journal was helpful was because it provided insite into trader psychology. He talked about the trades he made. And why he made them. Hitman was eventually asked not to post on ET because he was recruiting. You do that in almost half the 8posts per day you do. But you pay for adverts.
Open order strategy has little psychological element other than the exit perhaps. So maybe you should talk baout the stocks you used, what envelope you entered, why you exited the stock etc.

Maybe you will decide to continue the type of posts you've done....which are uninteresting to me..and just seem like promotion...and in that case I will just not read the thread. Or maybe you will decide to post additional info. Which would make me think that people who claim you are a "snake oil dealer" are just throwing mud.

What was Hitman recruiting for? A proprietary trading firm like Bright Trading?

  6. MArtin-
I understand what you're saying. I also do opening orders....and I would benefit from people sharing ideas about them.....I just don't see any point in posting how many winners or losers you have without providing a little commentary about them.

  7. sort of...basically if people would ask questions about non-retail firms he would tell them that he could get them a good deal where he worked. I never thought there was anything wrong with it. But then again, I don't maintain/pay for this site.

  9. I would like to learn more about Opening Orders. So I'm making suggestions to Don. If he decides not to, then believe me...I won't be reading.

  10. I've tried to answer all the questions. I can, and will, continue to do so.

Many have gone thruogh prior posts to find the many details that apply to the strategy, but if there are more questions, I will happy to respond.
