....for posting your recent results. Some of us "lurk" here daily to see how you are all doing on the "OO" strategy. Sounds like overall people are still making money with this strategy, congrats Don on todays results. Good trading all, mrktwiz
Today was like triple witch all over again. 17 fills, 12 of them long. Dumped the shorts right away and watched the longs go. Just looked at p/l and listened to the squawk box, dumped it all when things turned. Too bad I cut my size substantially to only 500 share average size. Still netted a little better than $1000.
what the f.....TXN specialist held my cover short order for 3 minutes, then gapped it against me 65 cents and filled me at the high. a 75 cent loser!!!! i was busy wathcing the other 8 stocks i got filled in and kept wondering why i hadn't gotten a fill back. the bid offer was something like 26.60 x 26.85, when i marketed out (opened at 26.50), he filled me at 27.25. unbelievable. i would of canceled had i been watching the montage, but i'm only one person. completly ruined what would've been a good morning. ended flat after commissions.
I watched the TXN this morning as well. You really should never use Market orders...I explained why yesterday in a different thread...if you would have gone in with a higher bid than was offered, you would not have been filled, and could have waited for the stupid thing to come back down. This was a bummer, sorry you lost $$. Don
We did ok this morning...up about 1,000. I'm holding on the FNM, see if it will bounce back a bit, but even at this level i'm ahead the grand. NOTE:*** Be sure to place both sides of the orders, buy and sell, every morning. I got filled on the buy side with MWD this morning at 41.10, and immediately sold it at 41.60. You never know when there may be a few shares left over from the prior day on the opposite side as you would expect. Don
due to strength of futures. It appears I would have lost on 4 short fills, but would have made money on two long fills. I guess I was surprised that there would have been any long fills. Bright Remote
I held the FNM, and ended up $2000 for the day....this opening took al little longer than normal. Don
Hey Don Is it reasonable for someone who has not used this strategy yet, to be able to expect to do as well as, say, someone like yourself after a few months? I guess what I'm asking is this: is it more of getting a feel for what the specialists routinely do with their stocks at the opening (which could be learned in relatively short order, I believe), or does it have more to do with understanding the movement of the entire market, what's moving it, tape reading, etc? (which of course takes much longer to get a feel for)
