I thought one of your cardinal rules was not doing openings on stocks with earnings.

I only got LLY and T today, +600

  4. 8 short fills, +298

Should have had no fills, but added a line to my spreadsheet yesterday and forgot to change another spreadsheet I use to load values to the trading platform. As a result, all my short sale orders went in with prices that should have been for buy orders.

Given the gap up open, it didn't seem too fishy that I'd have a lot of shorts, so I wasn't thinking that I had erred. A good day for that to happen, I guess.

  5. No Excuses on my part, my mistake but..., I post my earnings at 9AM, and I think they announced at 9:18....I gotta add another step to my pre-open ritual I guess.

Only cost me $49 this morning, just by pure luck...like I said, I was actually long 200 extra at 26.46...now trading 27.30 or so, I should kept it a while, LOL.

Edit - I guess everyone else knew an hour earlier, so we're back to just being wrong, LOL

  6. Well, well...a good morning. +$1257.

I was up about $700, and then CVS opened down $2.43 at $33.00 (at 9:46, caught me off guard). Program took me out of half (1500 shares) at 33.06, then 1,000 at 33.30, last 500 I just bailed with a market order, got 33.10...now 32.27....Made $440 on CVS alone...."chicken, not greedy or smart"...LOL.

    Don,

How many shares/how much capital did you use to achieve your approx. $900/day average last year? Would you say this year is going better or worse?

Do you buy the same amount of shares in each stock or what?

I have been using an opening only strategy for just about a month now and am averaging $1800/day buying 1000 shares of each stock.

I am very curious if this is just a lucky streak and my average will go down significantly or what.

    Thanks,
    Michael

  10. Only 2 fills, but good +$800 this morning.

BTW, I did not "average" $900 a day last year, more like an average of $300 (because I was only trading small, 10 stocks, as examples for my new traders...didn't want to overwhelm them with 50 stocks).

This year is much better...using automated exits (for half)...putting in 50 stocks.

I use 2 layers (may go to 3 soon)....2,000 shares first layer, 1,000 second layer. Today got filled on 3,000 each of 2 stocks.
