Since we're on the topic of statistics, I was curious to know what statistics you all tend to keep. I'm not particularly sure which is important and keep % of the day, FV of the stocks I watch, Open price of the stock, and of course personal records of positions and exit points. I'm looking to keep more detailed statistics...suggestions?
Took only buys today due to first of month. I didn't want to be selling below yesterday's close. Also, took off HPQ and TXN due to INTC news. HWP would have been a small winner. IF I would have put in the SS, I would have shorted both MER and XOM, they would have been losers. No fills today. Break even for the week due to one nice winner yesterday in TXN. Have a great weekend!!!!
3 fills / 4700 shares 3 longs / +570.00 - 1.25 / + .25 % bailed out way to quick...still getting comfortable with my increased size... scratched emc...then watched it go up 20 cents...had 2000 shares and gave them away... tgif...looks like a movie and popcorn weekend...sky captain and the world of tomorrow.... before you snigger who here doesn't like angela jolie in a black uniform and eye patch...
One of the many benefits of this forum is getting "ideas" from others as to what is working and what isn't. I had never thought of using EMC on my oo until chi just brought it up. I had always thought the daily range would be too small for this strategy. The ATR(10) is now getting into the .30 level, so I am going to add it. It, also, looks to be a stock that is opening at the extreme of the days range quite often. Along, these lines, what would be your top 3 Opening Order stocks these days? Looking back these past two months mine seem to be: MER JPM TXN Thanks for the idea Chi and yes, Angelie would look good in black with the eye patch. I wouldn't mind seeing her in "just" the eye patch
I track a lot of stats on my stocks. Some of them are: # of Trend days % of up/down days that reverse from open Avg Daily range (not to be confused with True Range) Avg gap up/down at open Liquidity (does it trade fairly even at all price levels vs lots of .02-.05+ gaps) MAE (basically how far against you did it move) Also, I track the at least 2 stocks that are correlated so I can hedge, but I usually will only have one in my OO at a time. Also track performance relative to sector (use index or ETF).
.45 for buys, .55 for sells 3 fills, 2 long, 1 short B MCD +-02 SS TXN .00 B GPS -.04 Traded horribly. TXN went against me right from the open....again. I covered half and then covered the rest when it finally came in for a scratch. Had decent profit in the other two and just didn't cover. I always trade like a jackass on mondays
