2 long fills, one didn't cooperate much, the other not at all; got out just before the bottom fell out. -115
7 fills: 3 small wins and 4 about even for about 240USD net Chiguy: how do you have a system that calculates a possible outcome, didyou trace the times and sales manually or you have autmated systems. Because if for example your system use a trailing stops, it is hard to tell at what prices you got your fills? Last time you mentioned you have some macros in excel. It would be nice to be able to run backtest on analyzing potential stocks for OPG because I Think stock selections is the key. Some stocks are just bad and I keep losing money.
it's an excel spreadsheet with dde links that updates dynamically and takes a snapshot of the position at 15 minute intervals till 10:30 am... i enter my skew for that days openings and it generates what my bid and offer should be... if the stocks crosses these points on the opening then it tracks it as a fill... my basket of stocks is the oex and it helps keep the risk down somewhat... it took me a while to figure it out but it seems to work quite well... i have written about this in earlier posts... entries are automatic but exits are hands on...i use manual trailing stops as the trade progresses... hope this helps...
I placed a short order at 09:24 for FCS and stock open on an uptick at my limit price. I file an inquiry and they got back saying that there are orders ahead, nothing is done. My question is are we entittled for a fill or the specialist can decline our orders based on reasons such as above? Any feedback appreciated. thanks
unfortunately...yes... natural longs selling...size...and entry time...market orders also... if you get in to close to the open you can get shut out...
I got shut out on NOC today. Opened up a penny. Just the way it goes. I long since gave up bitching at the specialist.
I have a similar question - I placed a sell short order at market to short VIA at 9:27. It opened at 34.99 (which was below yesterday's close of 35.16) and did not get a fill. Aren't specialists supposed to fill all market orders at the open?
My understanding is that all market orders are filled at the open whether there is an uptick or not. I will check further on this.
