2 fills, 1 long, 1 short, +102 Actually warm enough to open the windows today. Can baseball and the Masters be far off? Although as a Pittsburgh Pirates fan, perhaps the Masters is the only thing to look forward to...
Good Wednesday, Up $480...makes over $1,000 for the week. "Coulda" made more, but happy nonetheless. BTW, look for a good pairs trading article in Active Trader, I just submitted it today (probably June issue). Don
Most likely, he has a spreadsheet set up to monitor his fills and hypothetical results. It's a great way to gauge how "well" you are trading, I have several I use to help me do a daily analysis of my trading.
system says.... i use an excel spreadsheet with live dde feed to monitor my fills ... it updates dynamically and takes a snapshot every 15 minutes until 10:30 CST of my position, p&l and market cap.... this morning my one of my dsl lines went down and i used the spreadsheet to monitor my position... i get out manually and i use the spreadsheet to continue to watch the trade after i have closed the position..... today 3 fills 500 shares each 2 long / 1 short +$163.00 + 1.15 / - .85 % vs yesterdays close i had to exit by phone due to execution system issues.... if i had stayed in till 9:00 it would have been +316.00 p&l i blocked aig and omx
Shorted AMRI at @ 9.02...currently trading at $10.30 Still holding losses of about $1,500 (losing 15%) Crap...should've gotten out earlier.
I "coulda" held IBM and HPQ for another 5 minutes and made another 3 or 4 hundred. I look for consistency, especially since I am trading in front of group of new traders every day. I was out by 9:35 AM.....I don't have the privilege of being able to focus all day on trading (except for my pairs trading, which don't require constant monitoring). All the best... Don
Ok. Why didn't you get out earlier? What is it that kept you hanging in there as the position went more into the red? The last time it traded at 9.02 seems to be nine or ten trading days back in the murky past. It has been in an uptrend since then, stepping up a few cents each day. Why didn't you let go of the stock??
