I am thinking about the possibility that the electronic preopening will impact the OPening strategy. This is one of the possibility to move opening time earlier for NYSE. I guess many players would try to do the transactions pre market which might eliminate Opening Imbalance. Anybody has other thoughts?

January has been terrible for me. No big winner and always 1 or 2 big losers sneaking up ruining my small gains from other stocks. Negative for Opening Play in January. Earning news might be a factor but this time the effect has been bad. It seems that liquidity is also drying up and it is hard to get out with a bigger size (over 2000 shares).

  3. Well, since the OTC market is going to the single price opening, I think we'll have more, not fewer, opportunities in the months/years to come.

My new bootcampers are averaging over 75% profits on their opening only orders (just providing all the ET'ers with "proof of concept" yet once again).

    All the best!

  4. Don,

When is the OTC market going to make this change?

  5. I will post a definitive answer after my panel in NYC. Adam Nunes, the Prez of Nasdaq CAnada, and "Director of Strategy" for Nasdaq Transaction Services, and I chat a bit in a couple of weeks.

    Hopefully soon!!

(BTW, have you and Bob chatted any more lately?).

    All the best!!

Just finished my analysis of stocks with opening strategy, and found out that nearly all (maybe 90% or more) of stocks with enev > 0.4 both on the long and short would shakeout first before going in the direction that it is supposed to. This is is very strange because I normally never have this situation.

ANother bad day, 4 consequtive down day on openings and getting deeper in negative teritory for the month. ANybody else care to comment about the opening strategy for January?

    Thanks

  7. Another simple, typical day. 16 of 18 bootcampers profitable, and I made approximately $300 (after commissions). I "coulda" done better, but got caught in DD for a dime.

  8. I'm breakeven with commission for January so far, mostly because of a few news stocks that I neglected to pull. Haven't been working with a full roster for the last week or so due to earnings reports, and have had a couple of days this week with no fills.

I bumped up my envelope as well to try to get a little more consistent, but naturally this leads to fewer fills. So at least for me, January has not been fabulous so far either. I will say that I tend to try to let my winners run, so this leads to a lower winning percentage, but also it only takes a few good days to make for a good month.

  10. hi don ... just have those bootcampers quit while they are ahead of the game with the OPG !

-My new bootcampers are averaging over 75% profits on their opening only orders -

    - About 50% of new traders stop trading during the first year. -

    -About 20-30 percent succeed overall.-

    :p
