4 short, 1 long, 2 short winners, 2 short losers, long was a winner, +185 net A lot of work today for not much gain. Could have been worse though. Took a $300 loser, and had to be patient on another that was down $300 but worked its way back to a $140 win. With the losers taking my attention, I missed out on quite a bit more in the win column. Hopefully the Steelers bounce back this week in a big game at surprising Cincinnati. Have a good weekend everyone.
9 fills / 1000 shares each 6 long / 3 short +1674.00 - .25 / + 1.25% too bad they busted the opening trade in txn... got stopped out in the oil service...left some on the table.. just glad to have a decent day... am arb was a headfake...faded the open and it also worked... finally learned to get out of my own way... time for the weekend... go..go..white sox!!!!!!!
--------------------------------- Yea, That busted opening trade on TXN sucked but I lucked out on it just the same since I 'covered' the busted short at the days low price, so when they busted the opening short trade I ended up being long and was able to sell at a nice profit.
funny...i covered @ 29.55 also....when txn gives you a 1000 profit you jump on it...i got stopped out @ 30.08 on the now long cover
Yes that TXN trade was a joke. They changed the opening print to 29.55 and we were short at 30.55, so obviously the specialist or his clerk screwed up and punched in the wrong price. I was short 5000 and in the money by a buck right away, so I was covering furiously, paid up to the 90's to get out the last of it. Only found out half an hour later that I was now long 5000. Made 2000 on the trade, but woulda rather had the 4+ I earned. I've never heard of the nyse busting one of their own trades. The specialist should have to eat that if you ask me. 22 shorts, 3 longs today. I actually ran out of screen space and had to resort to the back up plan to follow what was going on. With the volatility we've had coming into today and the jumpiness of es before the open, and with it being expiration, I knew the odds were heavily in my favor, so I was patient with everything. Managed $7500 on 150,000 shares trades. Was actually at 10k before the txn debacle. Pretty nice week overall for openings.
Good Thursday +$400, no fills today.....but boy did I have a bunch of happy traders (about 60 or more)....their TXN sell short at 30.55 was "busted" - leaving them with a 29.60 or so long position, which they made 70 cents on....PLUS, they got their opening buy orders filled as well (late, when the stock was up 80 cents as well)....probably around an extra $100K or so for the traders. Don
Don, A question that has been asked elsewhere before, but since you are training and have people studying for their license, I thought maybe you noted a preference on study materials? Dearborns', Securities Training Corp, or other? Also curious do you prefer people to go through the 3 day class before the Boot Camp, or can you start right in the Boot Camp? Thanks
We use PassPerfect, although they're all pretty good. Some prefer to take a 5 day "crash course" - get the thing over with. 3 Day class is the basis for all future training.....then on to putting what you learned to use...with live trading. The 3 day is open to the public, the boot camp is obviously only available to our trading members. All the best, Don
