So let's say you are an NBA fan... but BLM burned down your store last month and now you have no income. Do you really want the BLM message in-your-face when watching every game -- even if you might be somewhat sympathetic to what they are protesting. Sports are an escape. People are watching to get away from work, politics, and their daily grind. People don''t want to be reminded of all the problems when watching sports --- they will will tune out.

No political messages should be pushed in sports matches. This applies to BLM, right-wing organizations, Education Reform, Vote, Equality Now and any other group. The answer is that none are acceptable. If the players want to push their political causes off-court then they are free to do this --- using their celebrity status to advance the cause. On court - no political cause should be pushed.

My stance on BLM has been consistent -- it starts with the need to separate peaceful protestors for racial justice who generally protest without violence during daytime -- from the violent ANTIFA/BLM protestors who loot, burn, and destroy during nighttime hours (generally). If you can't understand this differentiation then it is not worth having the conversation. Violent rioters undermines the racial justice message pushed by peaceful protestors. Until the violent rioters are arrested, convicted and sentenced to lengthy sentences -- the majority of Americans will not support any type of reforms to policing or engage in addressing other issues. In relation to sports -- fans will tune out if "BLM" is pushed in every game & broadcast. Americans watch sports as an escape they don't want an in-your-face reminder of social/political strife every time they watch a game.
