Trump Biographer Mocks Donald Trump's Money Situation With A Brutal Reminder

Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist David Cay Johnston on Tuesday reminded CNN viewers of Donald Trump’s boast in 2015 that he was worth more than $10 billion.

Following reports that Trump’s PACs spent around $50 million on Trump’s legal fees in 2023 alone, anchor Anderson Cooper asked Johnston if the four-times-indicted Trump could afford those bills if he wasn’t running for president.

“Anderson, you hit the nail right on the head there,” replied Johnston, who wrote “The Making Of Donald Trump” biography in 2016 and “The Big Cheat : How Donald Trump Fleeced America and Enriched Himself and His Family” in 2022.

“Remember Donald used to tell us he was worth $10 billion? He should be rolling in money if that’s the case. And evidently, he has to depend on begging for money from people,” he added.

Reuters on Tuesday reported that hotelier Robert Bigelow had given Trump $1 million to cover legal fees. Bigelow has also promised another $20 million for the Republican front-runner’s 2024 campaign.

“If you have $10 billion, this wouldn’t be a big deal,” said Johnston. “But if you don’t have $10 billion and you just claim it, that’s a whole other story.”

Trump was last week ordered to pay writer E. Jean Carroll $83.3 million for defamation, adding to the $5 million a jury ordered him to pay her last year after he was found liable for sexual abuse following her accusation that he’d raped her in the 1990s.

Trump fundraising PAC diverted millions to help Ivanka,Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. pay legal bills: report

A political fundraising committee tied to former President Donald Trump has diverted $2.3 million to pay the legal bills of former first daughter Ivanka Trump, reportedBusiness Insider on Tuesday.

"The group, called Save America PAC, spent a combined $2.3 million in 2023 for two law firms that represented Ivanka Trump, his eldest daughter, according to a Business Insider review of Federal Election Commission records," reported Jacob Sherman. "The PAC spent an additional $5.3 million on the law firm Robert & Robert, which represented his three eldest children — Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump, and Donald Trump, Jr. — as well as the Trump Organization in an array of lawsuits that have no apparent relation to Trump's campaign to retake the presidency in the 2024 election."

"Trump founded Save America shortly after he lost the 2020 presidential election," noted the report. "He's used it as his primary fundraising vehicle, often sending out messages making false claims about the 2020 election and his legal problems to convince donors to give it money."

Condominiums in Manhattan buildings bearing Donald Trump’s name have lost value, while towers that removed his name have seen their prices rise, according to a New York Times analysis.

“This analysis cleanly identifies that it is the Trump brand that is responsible for the value deterioration,” Columbia University economist Stijn Van Nieuwerburgh told the newspaper.

At Trump Tower, where Trump announced his first candidacy for president and where protesters have often set up shop, the average price per square foot has fallen 49 percent since 2013, according to one real-estate tracking firm.

Eric Trump scoffed at the findings, saying, “Data can be manipulated to tell any story you want, but the fact remains that our buildings sell for the highest prices per square foot of any properties in the world.”

The Times, however, noted that a $17 million sale Eric Trump cited sold for less than half of other condo in Manhattan by square footage.

One of the major tasks for Trump starting on day 1 of his second term will be the total dismantling of The Deep State.

Dismantling an illusion should be easy, not sure why it would atm be called a "major task".
