North Korea fires 2 projectiles after offering talks with US North Korea fires 2 projectiles in 8th weapons test since July Sept. 10, 201901:19 By Associated Press SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea launched at least two unidentified projectiles toward the sea on Tuesday, South Korea's military said, hours after the North offered to resume nuclear diplomacy with the United States but warned its dealings with Washington may end without new U.S. proposals. https://www.foxnews.com/world/north...ssile-capable-submarine-satellite-photos-show Photos show North Korea may be building submarine capable of launching nuclear missile, report says New photos taken of a North Korean shipyard suggest the country could be building a submarine that could potentially be capable of launching a nuclear missile, a report early Tuesday said. The photos show vessels and cranes that could be used to haul a missile out to sea for launch, according to experts at a Washington-based think tank, NBC News reported. The satellite photos seem to confirm North Korean state media reports from July about a newly built submarine. “There is no conclusive evidence at the moment that this is a near-term certainty,” an expert said of a possible missile test. Once a submarine is built, it would take at least a year before it’s ready, according to an expert. “The construction and commissioning of a true SSB (ballistic missile submarine) capability would represent a significant advancement of the North Korean ballistic missile and nuclear threat and complicate defense planning in the region, given the difficulties of tracking and/or pre-emptively targeting such capabilities,” analysts said and would lower the chances of denuclearization. https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/yes-north-korea-does-have-nuclear-missile-submarine-93976 November 6, 2019 Yes, North Korea Does Have a Nuclear Missile Submarine A major step towards a second-strike capability. by Sebastien Roblin Key point: Pyongyang's Gorae-class Sinpo-B submarine has been modified to launch nuclear missiles and North Korea has been testing it

Ouch. I should have more closely read through that website accomplishments list. What is the point of them allowing incorrect or misleading information and then leaving it up? Trump has accomplished a lot, but the crap you pointed out hurts their credibility and at least indirectly hurts Trump’s credibility. Edit: It looks like you edited the North Korean post. The examples you’ve listed so far seems to indicate their is some “Puffing” going on. As far as polls are concerned, it sound like the 51% one was a one time outlier. Concerning the deficit, the article you sited showed Obama’s deficit was higher, not that I’m excusing Trump’s fiscal performance.
https://www.epi.org/blog/record-u-s-trade-deficit-in-2018-reflects-failure-of-trumps-trade-policies/ Posted March 7, 2019 at 8:30 am by Robert E. Scott Record U.S. trade deficit in 2018 reflects failure of Trump’s trade policies The U.S. Census Bureau reported that the U.S. goods trade deficit reached a record of $891.3 billion in 2018, an increase of $83.8 billion (10.4 percent). The broader goods and services deficit reached $621.0 billion in 2018, an increase of $68.8 billion (12.5 percent). The rapid growth of U.S. trade deficits reflect the failure of Trump administration trade policies, as well as the negative impacts of tax cuts and spending increases, which have sharply increased the federal budget deficit, and tightening of U.S. monetary policy, resulting in upward pressure on interest rates and the real value of the dollar. The IMF predicts that the U.S. current account deficit—the broadest measure of U.S. trade in goods, services, and income—will nearly double between 2016 and 2022. Unless these trends are offset by a rapid decline in the value of the U.S. dollar, rapidly rising trade deficits could be devastating for U.S. manufacturing, likely giving rise to massive job loss on the scale experienced in the 2000–2007 period, when 3.5 million U.S. manufacturing jobs were lost. The U.S. goods trade deficit with China reached a new record of $419.2 billion in 2018, up from $375.6 billion in 2017, an increase of $43.6 billion (11.6 percent). United States trade with China is dominated by the deficit in manufactured products. Although the United States has imposed tariffs of 10 to 25 percent on $250 billion in imports from China (about half of total U.S. imports from that country), China has played its ‘ace-in-the-hole’ by allowing it’s currency to fall by roughly 10 percent against the dollar. As a result, the U.S. trade deficit with China increased faster (11.6 percent) than the U.S. deficit with the world as a whole (10.4 percent). While the United States and China are poised to negotiate a deal to end their trade dispute, the proposed deal amounts “much ado about nothing much,” as Paul Krugman puts it. It will do little to reduce the massive imbalance in U.S.–China trade flows.

It's the latest in a series of breaches by Iran following President Trump's decision to abandon an international nuclear deal and impose economic sanctions. https://www.cnn.com/2019/11/04/middleeast/iran-centrifuges-uranium-intl/index.html Iran announces new centrifuges on 40th anniversary of US embassy siege By Bianca Britton and Sara Mazloumsaki, CNN (CNN)Iran has launched a new generation of advanced centrifuges to enrich uranium, the nation's nuclear chief announced Monday, the latest in a series of violations of the nuclear deal signed between Tehran and world powers in 2015. The announcement came as Iran marked the 40th anniversary of the US embassy siege, when Iranian students stormed the US embassy in Tehran and took 90 people hostage, including 66 Americans. "Today we are launching the 30-series chain of IR6 centrifuge machines," Iran's nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi of the Atomic Energy Organization told state television IRIB. Iran is now using advanced centrifuge models to enrich uranium "The number of centrifuges we have installed during these two months is about 15 new generation centrifuges, which is a huge achievement." The advanced centrifuge machines allows Iran to speed up its uranium enrichment. Under the terms of the nuclear deal, Tehran cannot use IR-6 centrifuges, among other models, to produce enriched uranium for at least ten years. The deal allowed Iran to enrich uranium with just over 5,000 of its first-generation IR-1 centrifuge machines and the nation was allowed to use advance centrifuges for research purposes only. https://www.cnn.com/2019/06/20/middleeast/iran-drone-claim-hnk-intl/index.html Iran shoots down US drone aircraft, raising tensions further in Strait of Hormuz Tehran, Iran (CNN)Iran shot down a United States military drone on Thursday, further escalating the already volatile situation playing out between Washington and Tehran in the Middle East.
https://www.statista.com/chart/17289/number-of-undocumented-immigrants-apprehended-families/ U.S. Border Families are Crossing Southern U.S. Border in Record Numbers by Katharina Buchholz, Jul 22, 2019 Undocumented immigrants travelling in family units have been crossing the Southern U.S. border in record numbers, as inferred to by arrest counts from Customs and Border Protection. In May 2019, more than 84,000 people were apprehended while trying to cross the border with their families, exceeding the number of other apprehended people by 36,000. The number of families arrested had already pushed total border apprehensions to an 11-year high in February. The number of immigrants apprehended with their family in fiscal year 2019 so far had by February also exceeded the record for most family apprehensions in a whole year, set in FY2018. Recently, more immigrants that are coming across the Southern U.S. border have travelled from countries in Central America, like Honduras, Guatemala or El Salvador, while undocumented immigrants from Mexico remain the largest group. These migrants often claim asylum because of political turmoil in their home countries. Family units have been travelling as part of larger groups of up to 100 people, which have been branded as “migrant caravans” by different media outlets. Customs and Border Protection said they had apprehended groups of 100 or more people on several occasions since October on the U.S.-Mexico border. https://apnews.com/015702afdb4d4fbf85cf5070cd2c6824 US held record number of migrant children in custody in 2019 COMAYAGUA, Honduras (AP) — The 3-year-old girl traveled for weeks cradled in her father’s arms, as he set out to seek asylum in the United States. Now she won’t even look at him. After being forcibly separated at the border by government officials, sexually abused in U.S. foster care and deported, the once bright and beaming girl arrived back in Honduras withdrawn, anxious and angry, convinced her father abandoned her. He fears their bond is forever broken. “I think about this trauma staying with her too, because the trauma has remained with me and still hasn’t faded,” he said, days after their reunion. This month, new government data shows the little girl is one of an unprecedented 69,550 migrant children held in U.S. government custody over the past year, enough infants, toddlers, kids and teens to overflow the typical NFL stadium. That’s more children detained away from their parents than any other country, according to United Nations researchers. And it’s happening even though the U.S. government has acknowledged that being held in detention can be traumatic for children, putting them at risk of long-term physical and emotional damage.
The article makes a good point about the trade war increasing the budget deficit. This was a concern before Trump raised tariffs. It is not easy to hit the optimal approach on trade negotiations, but the intellectual property issue definitely needs to be addressed. For reference on how some people feel about intellectual property, ask recording artists how they feel about the subject for starters. Perhaps Trump could have been less heavy handed and showed other world leaders a more face saving negotiating tone for better cooperation. Note: I edited my previous post.
