I think it's all eventually going to gov't run health care, which means rationing. So the best option is to live someplace that is a short hop and skip from offshore medical clinics where you can buy your care. Once the gov't takes away your right to buy healthcare (and how rational people can accept this i'll never know) i'm pretty sure there'll be clinics pop up in places like the bahamas.
I'm no healthcare expert but I say 1.Let health insurance companies do what they want,no regulations just honor the contracts they sign with their customers. 2.Allow any American citizen to buy into medicaid for 5-10 % of their income.Take it out of their paycheck like Fica. You can only sign up once a year in January, not anytime you get sick. The people who want free market healthcare can have it.The best doctors don't take medicaid so those who want to pay more for better care has the option to do so while the poor still has access to licensed medical care. The medicaid option regulates the health insurance market because if they screw over to many people or their prices get to high their customers will turn to medicaid. 3.Allow Big Pharma to sell their drugs as high as they want, but allow Americans to buy their medicine from licensed pharmacies in other countries.
Obamacare was a Trojan Horse. It came with free stuff for everybody to see and inside it is filled with my tax dollars. Repubs are going to fuck up and in 2020 the debate will be Trumpcare /obamacare/ryan care vs Single Payer. They have the votes to repeal, anything less is running scared because CNN says people will be mad if we take the Trojan Horse back, after all it was a nice gift.
I like this provided that people with pre-existing conditions can get coverage and kids can stay on their parents policy into their 20s. I would also like to see open competition across state lines.
Then only well-connected elites like pols and military brass will get top notch care. Care for the rest will range from barely adequate to terrible. Now, the vast majority have access to good to top notch care. Liberals are outraged that people who can pay and think ahead have better care than the poor and irresponsible. So their solution is to bring everyone down to their level.
You want the same things everyone wants, except of course the AMA, the AHA, Big Pharma, and the health insurers. So why are we arguing? Oh now I think I understand. You can get coverage, no problem at all, but it's 10K per year and you only make 25K per year. Well, letting anyone sign up for medicare, is the answer, but that's called, the "public option". That's what had to be dropped from Obama care to get it through Congress. The ironic thing is that the way the public option was to be set up was as a government run insurance program that was essentially paygo. That is it was to be supported with premiums. The Cartel said the government can not do anything right, let alone be half as efficient as the private sector. So the insurance lobby, via Max Baucus, and friends, saved us from the public option. They didn't want us to have to be bothered with comparing the medicare premium with Blue Cross-Blue-Shield premium and having to decide which was lower for the same benefit. I wonder why???
