For many, many reasons: Lack of sleep has been shown to lead to delayed response times. Lack of sleep also whacks the hormones. Also, most researchers believe that one of the primary (if not the primary) purpose of sleep is consolidation and implementation of memories. Lack of sleep also leads to increased appetite, which is deadly long term, increased cortisol levels in some people (deadly to the brain) and insulin resistance. If you're a good trader, then pick your best market and stick to it. Don't trade night and day and fry your health and brain. Good idea. And thanks ShoeshineBoy. You make a compelling case for sleep. Health, Lifestyle & Leisure, Trading Plans, Business Plans, learning to learn...This thread is covering some basic essentials that don't get enough attention IMO. I paid no attention to these topics as they relate to trading until recently (and that explains the screen name ).
