Dogchat to be taken over for $100 billion

  1. I have no clue what they are planning on doing with this app to recoup their investment. I also don't know why they felt as if Whatsapp was a threat to Facebook and needed to take over them.

Because in bubbles everyone wants to buy everything at stupid prices. They are not 'planning' anything, just joining the rush.

  3. GOOG was ready to outbid FB, but Zuck had already talked upped the Whatsapp folks for months.

The comp sci guys are ramping up machine learning algos for big data like there's no tomorrow.

  5. Because anything with 450 MM users & something where users spend more time than on Facebook is a threat, dummy

Why did Facebook cough up $19 BN for WhatsApp?
Beacuse the can. And because they want to remove all possible threats no matter how remote the risk.

It's not about "recouping their investment" (LOL), it's about eliminating competition - and/or having it so your competitors can't.

Same as Google now. They can buy experimental shit they don't need for $$$Billions - only to write off their investment in the next year.

Don't forget that if Yahoo weren't penny pinchers they could've bought Google for $1 BN back in the day.
But they lowered their bid when the markets downturned.
Google rejected the lowered offer - and the rest is history

Look at G & Y's relative positions & market caps now.
    The irony
    A very expensive lesson

  6. You know, that's what I like about this place. You guys are so ****in cutting edge and "tuned in" to the markets and what goes on.

I myself can't figure out 99% of the monetary technical lingo. Geesh, I've had a hard time getting my keys on my keyboard unstuck.

    But, it's still nice.

*goes back to cleaning goop off his keyboard*

I thought "Dogchat" was what I do at a sleazy bar when trying to pick up some old drunk broken down local girl.

Look, I gotta get back to key cleaning - I may have a hot date tonight and if you saw her you'd know I need every key I can get my fingers on. Can you post a picture here? I'll show you guys exactly what I'm talkin about...

  9. No matter how absurd the purchase, they will always be able to find men of suspect manliness to opine on how this or that metric justifies , no , makes a bargain of the idiocy.
