  3. I had a frickin' site out of Costa Rica hijack my browser system last week. Popups galore....had to use the task mgr to shut down the whole thing. It put credit card and porn links in my tool bar.

I searched the net and the best one I could find was a product at www.noadware.com

I found a potload of spyware plus the idiot program that was continuing to screw me up.

I bought it for about $20 and had it all cleaned up in about 30 minutes.

    Seemed like a good product.

  5. Please describe the nature of the adware. Was it a plug-in? A service? An application that loaded on startup? What was the name of the file that was deleted or at least the generic name of the adware?

agree re pestpatrol.com the best, also adaware and search n destroy are ok as well..

best popup killer is adsgone, demo also avail. at download.com

whenever I find something I am concerned about, I enter the program name/dll name etc into the search box at www.sarc.com (norton's virus database).. in addition to just google searching for msg board postings about it..

  8. This is an excellent program!

    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

Download it from Site 3 and save it as there is a link to product support.

Before I ran this program, I'd see the crap I was picking all over the place after running Adaware and Spybot S&D.

Now, the only thing I seem to pick up are Red Sheriff's (which I assume that Spyware Blaster can't block)

Most everything else is blocked by Spyware Blaster.

  9. Puffy.....www.noadware.net

Forgive me it is .net not .com ....my error.

It has about 125 different adwares to gun for in its search list. It is just an application that search your specified hard drive. No doubt most of the other program suggestions here will help you probably as well. I just liked this one because it had so many adwares in its database to search for and it had a backup facility that would let you undo a removal if something went wrong....

ILookup was the hijacker. You definitely do not want to go there.

NoAdware.net cleaned it up and I was able to finally reconfig IE to where it was mine again.

    Good Luck!
