It works or it doesn't work involving 100s different ways of using trendlines. I've only seen one person at this forum post statistical results of how they're using trendlines...it works. Just the same, I've seen another person at this forum post statistical results that it does not work. What does that mean ? Something to Contemplate wrbtrader
What does that mean? That it requires a minimum level of skill to draw a likely trendline. And that skill might take a long period of time with a small amount of emotional pain. Or a short period of time with a large amount of emotional pain. And I would define large amount of emotional pain as repetitive dreams of being stuffed feet first into a wood chipper. Take a moment to reflect on where you are in this equation.
Tom Demark advocates using swing high/low points, looking right (current bar) to left (previous bars), the opposites of what most traders do. Where price is at currently is more important than past.
It's like asking does a hammer work? For building a house there is a good chance you could make it work. For fixing a cell phone, maybe not.
What does that mean? Well, it may be nothing to do with discretionary trend lines drawn on a chart. Success may well be attributed to trade metrics, reward:risk for example. smoff.
