ms g l o r i a brown, your thread headline question = Does trendline work? may i ask please, - how would you define the word "work" in that context?
As with many other indicators, it works, you need to spend a few hundred hours drawing them. I use trendlines, and they work best when they are long enough, which is not much useful for the current trendline on the chart. But, the previous trendline is the one that is long enough, and when it breaks it signals the start of a new trend. Now, you should probably wait for the first dip (in a rally), and as it breaks out, you get to construct a baby trendline of what may carry on to become a long trend. As the current trendline breaks, it becomes the previous trendline, and signals the start of a new trend. That may be the way to use it...!!
ms gloriabrown, what does any pro trader use, not counting trendline. You show me a name if you know one. thanks cheers
The most well known trader in ET doesnt use trendline, he shows codes and he backtests his stuff. Dont tell me you hang out in ET but no idea who he is.
I had to scour the internet hi and low, but here's one now: uses trendline as one of the tools in his kit.
That's not a great way to disprove something..!! Its exactly like this statement, 'Never heard of any pro trader NOT using trendline. You show me a name if you know one'
