A successful Church always has a workaround inplace for the lack of water into unleaded gasoline miracles. Snake Oil.
Yes, many are trying to justify why it is that they are not, cannot, should not do miracles. You are reasonable to question any non-miracle-working teaching/teacher. But you would not be reasonable to close your mind forever. "Behold, I stand at the door and knock" means that as you open your mind to mine, a miracle may assert your identity, and establish your power to heal thyself. Jesus
Jesus, Is whatever you are smoking legal in your location? My point that is that all that religion stuff is just fairy tales for adults. Kids are scared so we tell them about the tooth fairy, Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny to make them feel better. Adults get scared too, so they invent myths and stories so they can feel better, safer..... Christs and Buddhas and Holy Ghosts. The problem is they are all just myths. None of it is real. They arise with a culture and die with the culture. The "gods" of the Olmecs or the Babylonians are dead or what is called a myth, because the culture died. When our culture dies then the Christs and Allahs and Buddhas will become myths as well. When that happens humanity will either invent new myths...perhaps Bill Gates will become a messenger of a new god in a few hundreds years. Or if humanity grows up it may realize it doesnât need bed time stories of heavens and hells to keep the fear away ... as FDR said "the only thing we have to fear is fear itself". Why not do a miracle and give me the next opening price for the EUR/USD?
Me: "There is no other god before me" Jerry: Which god?...there are so many to choose from. Fear not: Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you" JB PS: BTW, in your search, make sure you don't fall for false gods (which means any gods other than the one that I believe in)
Poor guy you have only one god..... if I wanted gods I'd want a bunch of them....get them to bid for my prayers and subserviance. If you've only got one, it could ingore you all it wants as you have no options.
"Does science make belief in God obsolete?" there is no rule that says one has to be able to prove something in order to believe it, what you believe in can be separate from what you know but here's a problem; usually if someone is giving you an idea or thought and expects you to believe it without knowing how valid or invalid his or her statement is, it is most likely that the person wants to use or abuse you by using that belief against you for instance a girl at your work starts acting like she's into you and wants to have sex with you, next thing you know she hands over some of her tasks so you can take care of them, and you're like; it's cool I'll do it, after all she wants my cock real badly, so when it comes to your turn, she's like "we're just work buddies, I have a bf anyways, and I love him" when you come to really think of it religion is a scam, so is science to a great degree, everything in our world is so loaded with crap and bullshit, it's hard to distinguish what is valid and what is not. There are many reasons for such happenings, first off humans are the ones who compile this stuff, obviously almost everyone loves attention and fame, so just to get more recognition they tend to stuff their writings and teachings with 99% more crap than what they actually have to say, secondly no matter where humans stand (as a group or individual), they are still stupid entities, and actually believe themselves to be capable of understanding everything, thirdly this whole system is pretty fucked up, everything revolves around the same crap and concepts it did some thousands of years ago, so go and come back some 10 thousand years from now and humans if still existing will be the same fucked up beings they are right now
let me get this straight, we are to consider whether or not science will make belief in god obsolete... perhaps you use your godly science to answer your own question... remember, Freud's and Jane Goddall's approaches don't fall under the catagory of hard science...
Science has a method to establish the apparent truth of a question based on evidence and experimentation. Religion fails this kind of test. These is no objective evidence for any orf the gods. If I have a theory that metal is harder than wood I can test this and come to a statistically valid conclusion. Have 100 people test a particular god and you get dozens of different results and no conclusion at all.
In my best Jack Nicholson impersonation: You can't handle the telemetry! I trade long term only. Short term, the Dow will be trading at 100,000 within 45 years. Long term, the world will lose all of it's value. Jesus
Mary Baker Eddy did not write "Health and Science" until she had consistent results with the "truth". As she applied the truth, she got enough consistent healings to call it "science". Miracles test the truth that the miracle worker may come to trust the truth enough to understand that she is the truth, and not the person this world concieves a person to be. Until it's tested, truth is theoretical...to you, the self-concept. The question is, would you be able to distinquish the truth from a pack of lies, enough to begin testing it? "Religion" should be able to bring you to this point. If there is no such religion, then you must - religiously - seek to distinguish truth from illusion. Jesus
