Does Kohl’s Still Alive

  1. KSS - my guess, short squeeze is not over yet. It was 53M shorts and only 10M shorts were bought.
Bears including internals are selling stocks now. It may revert (I’m not 100% sure). We will see.

Sears is a poster child of why finance guys shouldn't be operators. When the deal happened, everyone hoped Eddie Lampert would use it as a platform like Buffet. Instead he destroyed the company with internal fighting and and poor management.

Has anyone been in a Kohls recently. We go in there solely because it hosts the Amazon return center. Every time I have been in Kohls in recent years there is not a single customer in the store beyond the people going to the back to return Amazon stuff. It does not matter if it is the weekend, weekday, afternoon, morning, evening, etc. -- the number of customers buying stuff is zero and the staff is standing around bored.

Kohls is now a meme stock and the recent drastic price increase is nothing more than a short squeeze. Trader's who focus on meme stock action can make some money in the short term. However from a longer-term investment perspective, Kohls is more likely to go bankrupt than recover. Most likely down the road the company will be brought out by a private equity firm, stripped of real estate & everything of value, loaded with the acquisition debt, and finally put out business -- just another failed retailer.

I'd never been in one other than an Amazon return, but it was interesting that they had electronic pricing. All that I could see was a sea of Levi's (not interested). Kohl's wasn't on the list the last time I had an Amazon return so I had to go to Whole Foods.

I'd never seen a store so empty other than the Neiman Marcus in Green Hills.

  6. KSS over the long time was swinging up and down and what was attractive- it was making pattern almost all the time. As of retailer it is selling s..t for long time, surprisingly it was swimming on the water. Not any more. It was fantastic stock to me. I do not care what are they were selling. For now, it’s only hope that crazy Reddit retailers will save this company.
I’m not really agree, but not guarantee, with you it will disappear. Hope,it is not ;)

  7. How about companies what you will never use by definition. For example Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics :)

    congrats on your massive profit.
It dropped from ~20 to $12 in just 2 days.

There should be many happy faces (and sad faces).

But the downforce momentum is getting weaker.

  10. I’m watching this, just nostalgic. I used to buy and sell it. My hope, reddits will buy it to short squeeze. Downforce momentum is weaker because bears and insiders paused to sell.
    Will see what happen ;)
