I got a Finance BS from Rutgers. It's worth shit. Half my class went to grad school cause they could not find a job. The days of college education equals good job & security are long over. Even a MBA cannot secure that. Glad I took the leap instead of running the rat race.
It is interesting how so many have written that a degree is worth nothing. I know several successful traders who have degrees, accumulated capital in a field other than Trading and now using a relatively small (15-20%) of their savings to trade for living and use the remaining capital for safer and less time consuming investment strategies. The degree gave them a relatively safe and sure way to accumulate trading capital. Many new traders suffer from not having sufficient capital to make the typical trading mistakes and survive. Getting a degree also helps getting trained in Goal Setting, patience, concentration, discipline and perseverence- all the qualities needed to be a successful trader. It is not the subject matter but the process that helps IMHO.
